Leon Washington?

PFT says interest in Washington could heat up this week:

Obviously, his medicals would be key because he had a compound fracture. That should heal, but those injuries can effect a lot more medically so it will be a concern.

When healthy, a 2nd for him is a no-brainer considering his age, ability in the passing game and ST contributions. However with the injury and contract wishes (reportedly $5M - $6M per season), there is a risk.

Do you think it worth it? Should the Pats take a shot knowing it would cost them the #53 pick if the Jets don't match? He fits their offense perfectly and weakens a division opponent.

Either way, I love the idea of the Jets losing the guy even if it isn't the Pats.. You always hold your breath when he gets the ball in his hands.

Not after the leg break..
I mean hes a super player, but if there were concerns about Boldin the concerns here will be threefold.

alot here compare him to faulk but dismiss the fact he does not pick up blitz.
also his whole effectivness was his quickness and i wonder coming from a injury how effective he will be. He might have to start the season in PUP.

you can draft some one like mcluster who is a receiver/returner/rb who will be ready to go in trainng camp and be as effective.

As a Jets fan, I figured the Pats would do something like this, since it would weaken us in the short term and you have both the 2nd rounders to burn and the need at RB.

That said, if I'm the Jets I almost want that to happen, so I can turn around and sign Pierre Thomas (who fits very nicely into a two back rotation with Greene). Thomas and pick 53 for Washington and pick 61 would be a win for the Jets.

Of course, if the Saints matched, the Jets would be screwed.

A second round pick for him would be an easy decision if he was healthy. The Jets return game is nothing without him. They had Brad Smith to replace him and he's basically just a hands guy.

If the Pats don't get Faulk, then they should seriously consider washington baring a medical check

I think that is what people forget. The guy is electric when healthy. He makes big plays in the passing game and on ST, as well as offense. He is a very versatile player.

There's no guarantee he will return to the way he was. We have similar questions about Welker. So no he's not a worth a 2nd round pick, and if its true that he can't pick up the blitz, I wouldn't give up a 3rd round pick even if he were healthy.

No way. Washington is a younger Kevin Faulk.

And, Faulk is returning.

This draft is deep and the Jets dont have many picks. That 2nd round pick is a potential # 1 in a normal draft.
