Probably not. I'm still waiting for liberals to voice their objection but it may not happen because what Obama is doing is right and good for the future of this country. Yes, we can ------> No, we can't do *****.

They don't understand technology. It's a series of tubes to them. And now they want a worldwide 3 strikes law. If someone claims you violated their copyright (note claims. no actual proof is required) 3 times (not necessarily the same person or company) you would be blacklisted by all ISPs and loose your internet access for life! We can only hope that when the younger people of today, who understand these issues and technology, start taking office that they will do what is right and get rid of any of these crazy laws that are enacted as a technology witch hunt now.

You left off the important part of your link, NEP....the one where it clarifies that the FBI drector is only repeating his request - the same one he's been making for the last 4 years.

As far back as a 2006 speech, Mueller had called for data retention on the part of Internet providers, and emphasized the point two years later when explicitly asking Congress to enact a law making it mandatory.

You also forgot (probably conveniently) that the phone company has been complying with virtually the same regulation request for the last 24 years.

Federal regulations in place since at least 1986 require phone companies that offer toll service to "retain for a period of 18 months" records including "the name, address, and telephone number of the caller, telephone number called, date, time and length of the call."

Nor is the FBI alone in it's desire for such a data base of retained information.
The state crime investigators and Immigration specialists from Homeland Security are also on board with it.

The FBI is not alone in renewing its push for data retention. As CNET reported earlier this week, a survey of state computer crime investigators found them to be nearly unanimous in supporting the idea. Matt Dunn, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in the Department of Homeland Security, also expressed support for the idea during the task force meeting.

There's also nothing in the article you cite which involves Obama in any way, shape or form. No more so that it involved Bush, anyhow. Obama's not approved or disapproved anything as of yet.

I'm surprised the Government didn't jump on all of this as soon as they found out how powerful the Internet is and all the stuff a$s holes like me can do on here.
