Willl Scott Brown be labeled a RINO???
Will be interesting to see how this is handled by the power elite within the Republican Party.. will he now be called a RINO??
This does not sound like Tea Party Rhetoric... A 'Scott Brown Republican' is pro-choice, anti-tax - On Politics: Covering the US Congress, Governors, and the 2010 Election - USATODAY.com Quote:

Re: Willl Scott Brown be labeled a RINO???
By all rights he should be, but GOP-jitsu will go into effect. This consists of the following:
- claim that states' rights (letting each state decide its own fate) is the most important republican principal (i.e., abortion isn't a moral imperative as compared with states' rights, if it's Vote 41 you're talking about); - above all, ignore any such inconvenience, and always stay on the attack - emphasize false linkages (i.e., Brown said "independent" a few dozen times in his acceptance speech, avoiding the word "Republican.") In fact, he's more a RIVO, Republican in Vote Only, the magical 41st senator that gives the Republicans a superminority. Thus far, he really doesn't even claim the Republican name (for obvious reasons.) It's conceivable they'll therefore alienate evangelicals in MA, but who cares? You really want independents and moderates in MA. I haven't heard a peep from the evangelicals about his election. Nationwide, will religious republicans float off into "conservative parties" or "tea parties" (sort of implied in your original question)? It's been a lurching sort of year for these guys. A year ago their hero was an evangelical purist know-nothing from Alaska. Now, their hero is a moderate from Massachusetts. Brown is pretty much where McCain was during the election, a voice other than the shrill calls to extremism we've come to associate with the Republican party. They purged these voices a year ago, and now they're restocking them... it's smart as long as they can continue to foist "politics as usual" on their wacky base, convincing them to hate the other guy more than their own... but to the extent that the base controls the center, there may be trouble. Old Sarah, for example, might not take kindly to being relegated to the Fox sidelines, and may realize she has the perfect vantage point from which to snipe at his conservative bona fides. It's stuff like this that makes it fun to watch Fox clips... what's the over/under on how long until Sarah goes on a Scott = Rino rant? PFnV |

Anyone who studies politics, understands that due to the power and money influences, that just about every politician is co-opted... it is what it is in America today, no more is it personified than it is in congress...

Re: Willl Scott Brown be labeled a RINO???
IMO Brown won't be labelled a RINO on beig Pro Abortion only if he supports low taxes and reduced gov spending.

Brown is in a tough place as he won't win the Republican nomination for President - ever - but it tough to imagine him winning the Senate seat again. But that's OK, his job is done, we only needed him to be #41 until we can crawl to the midterms.
