Q; about uncapped year
If the free agents next year would have been in for a big bonanza, it stands to reason that the Patriots would have been one of the big winners, along with the Colts.
If the Patriots could have guaranteed all of Seymour and Brady's salaries and taken the hit in 2007, that would have wiped their cap hits out into the future.
The logic here is, you pay a ton of money up front to your VERY SURE things, and Brady and Seymour qualify. No one else does on the team. In fact, there are only about 20 players of this caliber in the entire league. So Indy gets relief from Manning's hideous contract, etc. etc.
This would have benefited the Patriots if they could have avoided a lockout or strike in 2008.
