No-Trade Mocks
We love trades, as we should. However, they are extremely speculative. It might be interesting for us to consider a no-draft mock for our first four picks.
Esch at Hubble has us taking Spiller RB Graham DE Hardy DE Hernadez TE |

Re: No-Trade Mocks
Spiller and Graham are home runs at 22 and 44 given no trades and who else is available. Hardy is a bit risky, but the talent is there. Hernandez is good value at 53, if we don't go OL (Maurkice Pouncey, Vlad Ducasse and Mike Johnson are all available).
Overall, possibly the best 2 round mock I've seen. |
Re: No-Trade Mocks
Esch seems to be doing well this year (that is, he's agreeing with us).
Also, I would note that if Spiller isn't there, it would possibly mean that Bulaga, Odrick or Iupati dropped to be available at 22. I also agree that the choice at 53 would be between Hernandez and an OL. I think that this choice will depend on which position is filled in free agency. I would hope that we would fill one of the two. Quote:

BTW, I can't see Brian Price falling past 20, much less to 43. |
Re: No-Trade Mocks
I would expect 2-3 free agent wide receivers.
The need at ILB is one primarily recognized on this board. I expect that we will bring in the usual set of suspects to compete for a roster spot and reps. For now, we have Mayo, Guyton, McKenzie and Alexander. It is this board who thinks that our DROY playing injured isn't good enough to play his position in the future and the Guyton and McKenzie will not be good enough to play the other side (perhaps after competing with a free agent). Sure we could sign Dansby. I suspect there will be lots of high-priced free agents who would be upgrades over our signed players at almost every position expect QB. That doesn't mean that we will sign any of them, except at wide receiver where there is a critical need for a starter, rather than a perceived wish for an upgrade. Quote:

Guys picked in the fifth round this year, could have been 3rd rounders last year. |

Re: No-Trade Mocks
I certainly have not studied this enough to be able to judge the 5th round or later picks copared to last year's value. For me, these late pcisk are always a bonus if they make the team, and Belichick alswasy seems to find at least two for the roster in last three rounds or among the UDFA's. Last year was a bonanza with three such picks plus Hoyer and Lockett.
That being said, we should be able to get a 2009 3rd round quality player at 118 and with other 4th rounders we might acquire. Quote:
