OT: Random Playoff Notes and NFL Notes as of Sunday
So of the 12 playoff positions, the only ones we know as of Sunday night are that the Colts are the 1 seed in the AFC and the Chargers are the 2 seed in the AFC.
The Jets have won 7 straight home games vs the Bengals -- their last loss came on September 13, 1981.
The Ravens are 4-1 all-time in regular season vs the Raiders, but their only loss was their only trip to Oakland (Dec. 14, 2003)
The Ravens did win their only playoff game in Oakland, however, a 16-3 decision in the 2000 AFC Championship Game.
6 of the 9 games in Week 17 featuring AFC teams have playoff implications
Of the 6 NFC teams in the playoffs, ANY of them could end up being the 2 seed with the exception of the Packers (Vikings win on MNF would change this)
Of the 6 teams in the NFC playoffs, 4 of them play each other in Week 17 (Packers at Cardinals, Eagles at Cowboys)
8 AFC teams could finish 8-8 -- and if that happens, the only teams in the conference that would finish above .500 would be the 4 division winners
12 teams across the NFL could finish the season 8-8
(most 8-8 teams since 16-game schedule was adopted was 9 in 1999)
Just 5 of the 16 games in Week 17 will feature 2 teams above .500
Re: OT: Random Playoff Notes and NFL Notes as of Sunday
It's crazy how tight the standings are, moreso in the AFC but still. I'm just glad the Pats have a spot locked up. Week 17 was really tough to take last year.
