Thomas: 'Last week is done' - Extra Points - Boston.com

On Sunday, Adalius Thomas watched the Patriots from home. Today, he attempted to close the book on last week's controversy.

"We done moved on," Thomas said. "Last week is done."

Last Thursday, Thomas addressed every last question about his dismissal from practice after a late arrival. He felt he needed to clear his name, and his self-defense at many times came off almost as mocking coach Bill Belichick. Today, he made it clear he was finished with the incident.

"This is not a one-man show," Thomas said. "The game will go on with or without you. That's one thing anyone should realize. It can go on with or without you. You take the good with the bad. You learn from it, you move on. Just like any other week, whether you lose or you win, you watch the film, you make your corrections, and you move on."

And then Thomas was asked a direct question -- is he being treated fairly? He used the question to -- borrowing a phrase from the Red Sox -- turn the page.

"That's not . . . do you want to talk about Buffalo or you want to talk about something else?" Thomas said. "Y'all keep trying to go back to something that's over with."

Thomas said he watched the game and "I cheered the guys on." He didn't elaborate much on what he thought about the defense.

"I mean, when you don't have the calls, it's hard to understand what's going on," Thomas said. "I think they made plays. Did we make mistakes? Of course. But we won."

Belichick may well decide to make Thomas inactive again next week. The relationship is clearly fractured. But Thomas said he's getting ready for Buffalo.

"I prepare every week the same way," Thomas said. "It doesn't matter anything. That's what we do."

Should we believe him? I have my doubts.

If he wants to play I say BB have a contract for the Bills game which says Adalius must have at least 1 sack AND 8 tackles or he gives up his paycheck.

Personally I don't think he is capable of much anymore

He's swallowing his pride and saying the right things, so I'm happy (and surprised). Being that we're paying him a lot of money, and we're not that stacked at linebacker, I'd have no problem letting him back into the fold if his attitude is right. If Belichick thinks he can help the team win, he should be on the field this Sunday.

The dude acted poorly but he has value to this team on the field. Don't start the guy, fine!
But to cut him or shut him down is just plain silly given the demanding nature of the position and our history of injuries. The dude can still play some (not to the level of his contract as we have seen for more than a year now) and he can still be serviceable.
He needs to show up on time, keep his mouth shut and do what's expected of him, like any employee in the work force.

I know its illegal to do that, but in Adalius case it should be an exception :cool:
