OT: Deja Vu all over again: Mangini accuses coach/former friend of cheating

Browns coach Mangini curious if Lions' injuries were stall tactic

Is this guy for real? He' doing it again???

Just as before... of course players engage in that sort of gamesmanship. Anyone recall Willie McGinest suffering an injury against the Colts?

But most coaches are smart enough NOT to talk about this sort of thing in public, even though it's common knowledge in the coaching world that teams steal and videotape signal calling (whoops, I mean fake ailments during the game to buy some additional time).

Quote:

On Monday, Cleveland's embattled coach questioned whether Detroit's defensive players faked injuries to slow down the Browns' no-huddle offense, which racked up a season-high 439 yards during a 38-37 loss.

Mangini didn't flatly accuse the Lions of cheating, but he noted the high number of Lions players who were helped from the field -- only to return.

"I'm just saying there were a lot of them (injuries)," he said.

Be careful what you wish for. Once Mangini totally destroys his coaching career, he'll be a natural as a TV commentator ...

In order to be a good commentator, you have to be either credible* or likable, though not necessarily both. (*By credible, I mean that people trust the commentator, not that he actually knows what he's talking about.)

How many people find Ratgini either credible or likable?

But seriously... this is too weird. Schwartz, Mangini and Kokinis all worked under Belichick with the Browns in the 90s.

That's gotta be one helluva an awkward reunion... Belichick stabbed in the back, accused of "cheating"... Schwartz stabbed in the back accused of "cheating" ...

Whatever happed to Mangini's old friend Kokinis? Didn't he take a high level job with the Browns and Mangini? How's that working out for him?

Anyone notice a trend here?

...so who's next?
