State approves funding for $9M footbridge over Rt. 1 near Gillette Stadium

$9m in stimulus funds approved for footbridge near Gillette Stadium - Local News Updates - The Boston Globe

not sure if this thread is in the right section, but just thought this was interesting. Going to be huge for game day getting to and from the game, and also help traffic when leaving.

What's also interesting in that story is that Kraft wanted the bridge to connect Patriot Place to a new office park across the street.

...Didn't they just add parking across the street? So now they're going to tear up those lots and build an office park?

Yeah it's a really dumb design flaw to have to stop traffic to let the people in those lots cross the street to the stadium. It was obviously made even worse by all the development at Patriot Place taking up parking spots.

As for whether it's worth $9,000,000 of taxpayer money is something I'd think many of us are skeptical about. They bring in so much money with all of their home games and other events that it's really silly to think of the Krafts seeking handouts like this.

Where is the office park going to go? Are they tearing up P9 or P10?

Last year I was in traffic in the parking lot for a good 3 hours after a game, even worse after a few concerts, its a huge design flaw

Doesn't he just lose the cost of asphalt and paint and lighting in redoing the parking lots into the office park...

I've been a Pats fan since 1976 living here in NY. I went to many games in NE when it was Sullivan Stadium & foxboro. I haven been there since it became Gillette Stadium so can someone explain how its structured & where would footbridge be added? Thanx

Not their fault they are successful and rich. THEY are taxpayers - and they pay more in taxes than the "taxpayers" you speak of. Give some to the wealthy as well. The poor might just waste it anyways.

Rip down in 5,4,3...

Look at the map to the left of this story 1/2 way down. Right now they stop traffic for folks to walk accross the street to get to lots on the southbound side of Rt1 oppsite side of the stadium.
