So how bout that passing defense this year?

Through 7 games, I am impressed with the improvements the Pats have made with this young secondary out there. They are playing like a completely different unit out there as opposed to last year.

NFL passing defense stats has the Pats ranking relatively high in all categories:

7th in completion percentage: 56.5%
6th in passing yd average: 176.3yds/gm
8th in passing plays of 20 yds+
Tied for 4th in yardage per completion avg: 6.2 yds per catch
Passing defense 3rd in points allowed at 14 point per game

It's stellar.

Edit: Oh, and we'll pass up the Saints in terms of points, as of tonight. :singing:

Where do we rank in overall points allowed?

Sixth coming into today. I'm sure we'll be moving on up in that. Our run defense was ranked 20th though.

this thread should be brought back to life after we finish the indy, jets,NO stretch

if were still positive, it means that yea, this pass defense is pretty good....

right now, i think it may have serious problems that our advesaries havnt been able to exploit....

the QB's weve faced include a HOF list of edwards, sanchez, ryan, flacco, kollins/young, orton, freeman/johnson

after we face 2 of the top 3 in the NFL, hopefully we can say weve held up pretty well

This is pretty much the bottom line

Ryan and Flacco are nothing to laugh at. Granted, we weren't tip-top versus Flacco. But yeah, it would be nice to see how we fare against Brees and Manning.

Yep. I have a feeling that Dean Pees' job will be in jeopardy on these forums after one or more of those games.

3rd in points allowed per game behind Denver and Indy.

Our defense is actually ahead of Indy in terms of points per game allowed strictly by the defense. Brady has an INT returned for a TD and a strip sack for a TD. The Colts offense hasn't given up any TD's.

Taking out those 2 touchdowns our offense gave up and we've allowed 84 points over 7 games for 12 points per game. The Colts D is giving up 12.83 points per game. Denver is #1 at 11 points per game allowed.
