2006 Team Better than 2005

Just bringing back our free agents gives us an improved team.

However, we will ahve opportunities in free agency and the draft to upgrade.
I would expect that even after bringing them all back, leaving money for rooks and the IR, we will still have $5M or so of free agent money to spend. I assume a restructuring/extension of Vinitieri, McGinist and Starks and cutting Poole.
-----------------------------------------------
Ten obvious potentials for upgrades (in addition to replacing the unsigned)
QB Flutie
RB Evans
WR whoever we don't re-sign
WR whoever we don't re-sign
DL Klecko
DL Hill?
DL Wright
LB Banta-Cain
LB Claridge
DB Stone

To put it another way, these ten are at bottom of my roster.

Week 17 ... cusp of the playoffs ... Pats are in it, are hot, and rollin'. Last time you'd imagine we should ponder next season.

So why am i enjoying this trio of 2006 roster threads? More bizarro behavior by demented fan, i'm afraid.

Anyway, it is really good to visualize the potent team we should have next year. Can't wait!

Let's be clear. We all can't wait for the first playoff game.

However, not many care much about this week's game, except to avoid injuries. Some of us don't even want to win. We'd rather lose, and guarantee the #4 seed.

Now if only the 2006 team can be HEALTHIER than the 2005 team...(and 2004 and 2003 for that matter!).

Even with no further injuries, the Pats will be without Rodney for at least 6 games IMHO.

You think Starks will be back? I think he was waived the day he walked off the bench with a minute left in the game (and he doesn't even know it yet).

What could you find wrong with Claridge? He never got to play. What would we gain by cutting him and signing a LB with our fifth round pick?

1.Don't want Starks
2.Don't want Law
3. Don't want anyone who has been IR'ed twice.
