Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
Since Moss last caught that catch from Brady for his record breaking 23rd TD in a season and Brady also notching his 50th TD pass at that time in January of 2007, Defenses have nearly shut down the pair from any major damage in games dating back 8 games ago when the two have been out there together.
After all those TDs between the two that in the past 8 games, Brady To Moss has only resulted in just 2 TDs and only 461 yards between the pair. Averaging that out is nearly 0 TDs and only 57.5 yards per game - Thats not even in the same neighborhood as it was for 16 games in 07 I think defenses are taking Moss out of the game and CBs are playing as close up as they can and going the right routes to keep Moss from getting open and teams refuse to make Moss be the reason they get beat. Of course Brady has missed some good opportunities to improve this average but he has been off target. I wonder after looking at this if Brady to Moss being lethal is not as worrysome to defenses as it was before although I am sure we could see some TDs bring it back up but those last 8 games shows you it does not take DCs long to figure out and lasso this QB/WR combo and force Brady to look elsewhere and unfortunately for Welker it looks like he is going to have to be the guy to carry the load as the main target this year. |
Re: Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
I'm a little bit worried Moss has lost a step, to be honest. He's being pretty solidly covered by cornerbacks who aren't even the team's #1 these days. He was pretty much bullied by Revis and Bailey.
On the other hand, they've had plenty of opportunities this year to score on the long ball and Brady has simply overthrown him. Those incompletions didn't have much to do with opposing defenses. If those passes connect, are we still talking about this? |

Make teams worry about the TE more...which may loosen up some safety pressure...and I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

Re: Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
Disagree. Yes, the Giants shut him down in the playoffs, but the other playoff games were played in conditions where passing wasn't exactly easy. Short passes and the running game were much more prevalent.
This year, Moss has been open and beating coverage, but Brady has missed him. It's that simple. It's nothing the defense is doing. Despite that, Moss is still a top 10 WR in the NFL. |
Re: Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
Moss is fine. Without the option of a down-the field threat, Brady's timing on routes and the running game not scaring anyone, teams are rolling coverage to Randy.
Once those things are recified, Moss will be putting up the numbers..... My .02$ |

If Galloway was producing, it would be taking some of the heat
off Moss. |
Re: Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
When I realized that they only have 2 TDs together in 8 games,I said to myself WOW what a change to what we saw 2 years ago

Re: Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
If Brady could hit the broadside of a barn on a downfield pass and if whoever is calling the plays for the Pats called more downfield passes to Moss, I doubt this would be an issue.

Brady is hitting someone, but not on a football field |
Re: Defenses have shut down Brady to Moss
Nobody but Bernard Pollard and Brady himself has shut down Brady to Moss.
