OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third (cond. second), fifth

Adam Schefter just reported it... I know people will blow this off, but I think the Jets are a serious contender , and will give us fits Nov 22... They are not going away...

They are seriously mortgaging their future. They've already given up significant future draft picks to move up and take some guys.

They may be the biggest challenge in our division this year, but they'll be on a decline every year afterward, while we still have the extra 2011 1st rounder.

Wow, an actual midseason trade ? I like Edwards a lot - unfortunately. Unless Mangina is giving guys away, though, like with Sanchez, Edwards should cost the jest a good amount in draft picks.

It'll cost them a big contract and picks as Edwards is a UFA after this year.

I tend to agree...even though I wish they would collapse. This might be a piece of the pie that was needed....and what did the Jets give up??

Need to see what they give up first, but they are so desperate to beat the Pats, ala trading for Farve... Tannenbum, is a joke of a Gm though... Rex Ryan is good for the jets now, and I know people want to make Sanchez the next great thing.. Your right with mortgage the future, they need to be a super bowl team with in 2 years for this to be worth it..

Wow, literally hours after Crabtree signed. Just goes to show you how much the Jets had probably been tampering with Crabtree.

I have a feeling Mangini WANTS to get fired. This just makes no sense to Brown. I know Edwards is a headcase but how can you expect to win any game when you trade away your best pass catching TE and now best WR? I mean its clearly good move for Jets(assuming Edwards somehow doesn't pull Plaxico Burress in NY). Although I think its about one year early for them to make this move.

If he gets fired after this year he's done as an NFL HC probably forever.

On the trade, I think we'll end up disappointed what the jest gave up given Edwards' on and off field issues in addition to being a UFA after this year.

Bingo, excellent point.

Where there's smoke there's fire. How much longer will the NFL suits on Madison Avenue close their eyes to this?
