Jerome Bettis (Sports Irritated): Tom Brady is Back

Crap, now I wish hadn't erased the game so I could see it from his POV.

Anyway, just one guy's opinion. He also thinks Rex Ryan's "swagger" could be bad for his offense. Read the full article for that bit.

Tom Brady's back, Rex Ryan might be hurting New York Jets, more - Jerome Bettis - SI.com

Tom Brady is Back. Last week I said Falcons-Patriots would be a barometer game, but for two quarters we didn't learn much. Then I think we finally saw something definitive in the last 30 minutes: we saw a quarterback find his legs.

In the first half of that game, Tom Brady was wildly missing his receivers -- the same thing we've seen the first few weeks. He looked rusty. But in the second half, he was a different man. He had confidence in the pocket. We finally saw that "Ah-ha!" moment that you look for after an injury like the one Brady suffered last year; that moment where he finally stops thinking about it.

Anyone coming back from an injury like his will naturally be cautious. Balls will be under- or overthrown. You won't have the same zip on the ball. Some guys take a few games to get the confidence back; some guys take a whole year. And I think we saw that process winding down in front of our eyes in the second half. A confident Tom Brady is something to be scared of.

One play that stood out to me and for more reasons other than it was a TD was the TD pass to Baker.

On that play he stepped up in the pocket and shook of someone grabbing his shoulder showing his normal pocket pressance which has been there all season but unlike most of the season he reset himself and made an accurate throw.

Most of the season I have seen his normal pocket presance but than he would rush the throw after showing his pocket movement. I said all along that this beat the alternative of him not showing his pocket pressance but being accurate because it would be harder to fix.

Not sure if I would say he is fully back yet but he seems to be fixing things in his game on a weekly basis and it shouldn't be long.

Getting closer. As long as there is progress, I'm happy.
