Re: Obama TOP donors
It is no surprise that Obama's top donors: Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Citgroup, and Morgan Stanley received unprecedented government assistance and are now earning boffo profits in the midst of a recession with millions of unemployed Americans.
In contrast, the non-donors - Lehman Brothers and Bears Stearns -- were forced into bankruptcy without any government assistance. This is Obama's crony capitalism at work. . |

From the same source...
319,000 people gave $345,650,000 millions to Obama for an average donation of $1084 140,000 people gave $162,900,000 millions to McCain for an average donation of $1164 If McCain worked harder and appealed to more people then he would have raised more money.. :D:D |

Re: Obama TOP donors
The only way to change campaign finance is through a Constitutional amendment. Until that happens, political parties will have to whore themselves to whoever they can. That said, at least Obama's list includes some Universities, and he got record number of small donations, more than 3 millions, so perhaps that's why he's fighting for things like national health care, that will benefit the little guy more than the big corporations.
Here are McCain's top donors from the same source: Merrill Lynch $373,595 Citigroup Inc $322,051 Morgan Stanley $273,452 Goldman Sachs $230,095 JPMorgan Chase & Co $228,107 US Government $208,379 AT&T Inc $202,438 Wachovia Corp $195,063 Credit Suisse Group $183,353 UBS AG $183,079 PricewaterhouseCoopers $167,900 Bank of America $166,026 US Army $165,370 Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher $159,596 Blank Rome LLP $154,226 Greenberg Traurig LLP $146,437 US Dept of Defense $143,605 FedEx Corp $131,974 Lehman Brothers $126,057 Bear Stearns $117,498 |

Bank of America and Merrill Lynch were McCain donors but not Obama's. So Treasury forced Bank of American to buy out the toxic Merill Lynch in the hope that both companies will be eliminated. All these things make perfect sense to me. This is called Obama's crony capitalism. . |

No they have themselves to thank for institutional bureaucracy. How has that worked out with a bloated public service sector in California...oh they're bankrupt nearly....What about the UAW and General Motors....??? Admit it, the unions are the flip side of corporate America donating money to protect their own special interests, no different than corporations or lobbyists. As for raising the minimum wage and a shorter work week? That will make us real competitive in a global economy. I love it how people who have never signed the front a paycheck are experts on running businesses. Now that the unions are owning GM, let's see how that works out... |
