Here we go again: Craigslist used to set up rapes of 11 women by one man

.

The more shucking and jiving we allow, the worse it gets. "Oh, I buy all my home improvement tools off of Craigs list", some people like to say, but is that really so important when that same Craigs list is used to lure women into being raped???

Shut the garbage can down. Cap this toilet and let it sink into oblivion. We've heard enough!!!

Oscar-winning composer, 71, 'raped 11 women using Craigslist to lure victims with promise of film role'

The Oscar-winning composer behind 'You Light Up My Life' raped 11 women he lured to his apartment with the promise of a starring role in a movie, prosecutors said today.

The women read an online ad placed by director, Joseph Brooks, applied for the audition 'and thought this was their chance to become a big star,' prosecutor Lisa Friel said.

Instead, once the women were in Brooks' Manhattan apartment, he plied them with wine and forcibly raped them or used threats and coercive behavior to make them have sex with him, prosecutors said.

Without a venue to use for their crimes, such sickos would be out of business or at least have to work a whole lot harder.

Craigslist is an enabler of destruction of peoples' lives. It needs to be shut down forever.

As cynical as it sounds, I would put the blame on the women more than Craigslist. They should have exercised far more caution than they did. And why is this in the Political forum?

I'll tell ya why, Kontra. You know how when people talk about 8 years of prosperity under Clinton/Gore, and some right-winger says "yeah sure that was because of the Internet boom... all they did was not screw it up..."

Well, Foggy goes on these rants to remind us how bad a Theocon woulda screwed it up (and would still screw it up.)

Foggy: let's say that on the way from Craigslist to the actual meeting, the sicko called the girl on the telephone. Do we now ban telephones, because they enabled him? How about if he drove a car, do we ban cars?

Said sicko used Craigslist as a tool. It's used by millions of non-serial-rapists every day, to do everything from sell a pool table to get a new job. Truth be told, I never actually even got on Craigslist, just in case you're warming up to lecturing me on degenerate use of a bloody classified ad site.

Theocons... :spygate::spygate::spygate:

Hey, Fanny boy, if a car is used to commit a crime, the car is impounded. Same for a cell phone, a baseball bat, or a can of Mountain Dew. Craigslist is used to commit murders, rapes, robberies, and untold other crimes, so it's time to shut it down. Once and for all.

If you shut it down, you will deprive many folks of their livelihoods including non profits, regular joes and many other people.. this for many is the shadow economy.

Should cell phones be banned...

It's faulty logic and overloaded hyperbole, but it's the same old story over and over again- he's never used the site and never will so no matter what the hell else happens on there even if it's 99.9% legitimate and done by people who need the cheap advertising.

If your finger has an infection you don't cut off the entire arm...if you stub your toe you don't cut off your foot to stop the pain

Cell phones used to commit crimes should be confiscated. Newspapers, TV stations, radio stations, and internet sites should be shut down if they do not police themselves and clean out the garbage. If murder and rape were being promoted on TV or radio, the FCC would shut them down in a heart beat. Same should be done to Craigs list. Don't worry, a cleaner, better site for "regular joes" will open up, one that will not be abusive to the public.

may as well shut down hospitals since people have been killed there........

cotton balls must be banned because someone used them to suffocate someone else.......
