Embroyonic Stem Research

Much touted, little practiced.

YouTube - Embryonic Stem Cell FUN!! (Crazy Pete returns)

As Dr. Bernedette Healey says, "To date, most of the stem cell triumphs that the public hears about involve the infusion of adult stem cells." Why Embryonic Stem Cells Are Obsolete

Embryonic stem cells lead to some hallaciously nasty cancers called something I forget.
But the liberals say it's important. Stem cells injection=tumors. Pharma Strategy Blog: Do foetal stem cells cause cancer?

Sort of like global warming is a catastrophic event looming, even though the world's been on a big cooling kick as of late.

I'll just keep eating my apples with the shiny skins on 'em, alar be damned.

My advice to you is: In the future, if a doctor comes to you with a treatment or cure that originates from stem cell research, you should refuse the treatment or cure.

Otherwise, let medical researchers attempt to cure Parkinsons, or paralysis, or cancer, or Alzhimers....

umbylical cord stem cells are a different story. these will be used to cure many diseases over the next couple of years. the ability to get umbylical cord cells is so much easier.

If curing my mother's cancer means a stem cell, that was going to be medical waste anyway, has to serve a differnt purpose?

Hmmmmm......medical waste bag.....VS......my mother's life.....????

damn, thats a tough one.....

I'll think about it and post later.

The point of this isn't whether we have to choose, it's that embryonic stem cells have not found any success yet compared to others. And there's been plenty of money, CA alone had a $3B or so bond for private sector spending.

Cancer sucks, my mom died 3 months ago from it, but I wasn't sitting back expecting anything from embryonic stem cells.

Holy Diver=brain filled with embryonic stem cells
BelichickFan=brain filled with adult stem cells

See the difference?

Sorry to hear about your mom, all my thoughts and go to you and your family. I understand. Mine is past her 5th battle, for now.

I too am not expecting a miracle cure, nor will I stand in the way of research.

There was an interesting piece on 60 minutes about a year ago, on how this retired radio guy was using gold nano cells, and sound waves to kill cancer cells. SUPER interesting stuff.

So let's talk about Mom's life, I have already lost my Mom to cancer.

Since the progress and all therapies are related to adult, placental and umbilical stem cells and not embroynic stem cells why should we direct the vast majority of research $$$ to the approach that is ineffective?

Would you want to increase you Mom's chances of survival by supporting research that is producing results rather than throwing $$$ at ESC as a sop to the abortion community?

Its not about the investing of $$, its about limiting research.

It would be like if there was a possibility of curing paralysis with Elephant sperm, and we banned all dumbo porn....

The point is the the probability seems higher with non embryonic stem cells vs. embryonic stem cells. So while there is a non zero probability embryonic stem cells will lead to a cure, the probability is higher with other stem cells - so which should we spend money on ?
