New York Times' Maureen Dowd, a Pulitzer Prize winner, admits plagiarism

NY Times columnist admits using blogger's words

NEW YORK – New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd has admitted to using a paragraph virtually word-for-word from a prominent liberal blogger without attribution.

Dowd acknowledged the error in an e-mail to The Huffington Post on Sunday, the Web site reported. The Times corrected her column online to give proper credit for the material to Talking Points Memo editor Josh Marshall.

The error appeared in Dowd's Sunday column, in which she criticized the Bush administration's use of interrogation methods in the run-up to the Iraq war.

W's response.....

She (dowd) has always tried to be as famous as Coulter but could never come close, with all the problems that left wing rag already has the last thing they need is another "Bush Hater" who cheats, they should dump & disown her quick.

The funny thing was that she was the one who really outed Joe Biden back in 1988. The irony is delicious :singing:

New York Times' Maureen Dowd Admits to Plagiarism, Blames Friend

During the 1988 presidential primaries, Joe Biden's campaign met its downfall after charges of plagiarism. Ironically, it was New York Times' Maureen Dowd who had helped to bring this matter to public attention. She pointed out similarities between speeches of Joe Biden and Robert F. Kennedy, as well as Joe Biden and British Labour candidate Neil Kinnock. Not only had Biden lifted passages from Kinnock, but he also seemed to have lifted biographical information in hopes of passing it off as his own.

The "error"???

So... is she being fired, or not?

Ron Borges was fired for plagiarism, why isn't this writer getting fired?

On the other hand, Coldplay stole their most recent song, the guy who wrote 'Da Vinci Code' basically stole it all from another book, and he's probably a billionaire right now...
