Vet ILBs - who is out there, will be cut, or avail for trade?

With McKenzie out, Pats ILB depth is even thinner. They could hope that Appleby pans out as an UDFA, but as Mike Lombardi says, don't confuse hope with a plan. And as we all know BB, he must have a plan, and that will probably include grabbing a vet ILB.

So who is out on the market, will likely be cut and/or available for a cheap trade?

I can't really think of any names off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are a few guys worth a look ...

here is a list of the remaining free agents. Not to sure how up to date this list is, but whats remaining does not look to promising. Hopefully a few good vets will become available when teams start trimming their rosters.

Is their anyone on the Pats roster currently that can play ILB. TBC maybe. He's got the size. Especially if we sign Taylor. That will make a log jam at OLB.

Why not just sign Taylor and move Thomas inside?

AD is the best pass rusher on the Patriots, whether JT signs on or not. I just think theres no point taking your best pass rusher and moving him inside especially with the lack of rush last season.

1) I'm not sure I understand the panic. Did anyone expect lots of reps and contributions from our 3C developmental LB draftee? and, yes, we do have the opportunity to sign another ILB if we wish.

2) Did Bruschi and Guyton get cut? They will take the same reps they were taking before and similar to what they took last year. We have three ILB's. Barring injuries, a 4th would get almost no reps.

3) Yes, Thomas could move inside if Taylor were signed. The question is whether this would help the team or not. My preference would be to keep Thomas and Taylor outside unless there were an injury to one of the inside backs. But if you think Bruschi and Guyton are useless as starters, Taylor and Woods could start outside.

4) Why are we talking about a logjam at OLB? I thought we all agreed that Taylor would be a major upgrade. Camp competition would determine who would go. I would expected that we would just keep what we have with the expectation that Redd, Banta-Cain and Woods made much of their contributions on special teams.

I was thinking that as well but with the loss of McKenzie I think he is our best bet at ILB next to Mayo because I honestly think Bruschi is just about done.

Move Thomas back outside on third down and put Guyton inside.
