The Undebated
 

Seems to me that there are some prospects who we've hardly batted around at all, even at positions that we generally talk to death. Some examples:

OLB: Lawrence Sidbury, Richmond 6-3 266 4.53

ILB: Antonio Appleby, Virginia 6-4 243 4.72

FS: Darcel McBath, Texas Tech 6-0 198 4.58

SS: Michael Hamlin, Clemson 6-2 214 4.57

OT: Troy Kropog, Tulane 6-6 309 5.30


Any thoughts on these players, or other names due for a turn through the PatsFans wringer?

And those are just a sampling of the guys I have rated in the top 5 rounds , along with Appleby, Sidbury, and Hamlin off of your list.

Sidbury will be an option at 2b or 2c if we pass on God himself. Sidbury's cone and shuttle numbers were a little iffy but he had a better 20 & 40 and 28 reps vs. 21 for Him. Sidbury also did it at 6'3", 266 which makes his quickness numbers not that bad though still not great.

OLB: Lawrence Sidbury - until he was invited for a visit, I din't know what to think of him, as of now he seems like a second round fallback option.

ILB: Antonio Appleby - No "nose" for the ball in the two times I watched him.

FS: Darcel McBath - I never focused on him and only looked into him after his name surfaced as NE target in a couple mocks, he's below the radar it seems.

SS: Michael Hamlin - He made my list during the season, he's a mid-round option.

OT: Troy Kropog - He was uninspiring at the Senior Bowl, which is the only look I got.

I have looked at Gill quite a bit and he is an intriguing option as a 3-4 DE. In the end it comes down to can he two gap? At this point I am still unconvinced he can.

Hamlin's production numbers are very nice. But is he a taller and thinner version of Merriweather, as far as playing closer to the LOS?

The best all around "safety" in this draft I have seen play is CB Byrd of Oregon. This kid is extremely physical in run support, has decent size, NFL pedigree, and decent spped and coverage abilities. He is a FS disguised as a CB.
