FRITZ Vegas trip
I spent the week in Vegas for work. i never got to the tables to bet, but I did get to the Sports Book to put $100 on the NEP to win the SB.
Pats 9:2 (4.5:1) Steelers 6:1 While I was standing there, the news broke on the Cutler trade. The Bears were 10:1 to win the NFC at the time, and I sensed an quick arbitrage opportunity to bet before Vegas changed the odds. But I didnt - who really cares about da Bears. LOL If there had been odds on betting that the NEP would go undefeated, I woulda bet that. What do you think? Should NEP be favored over the hated Steelers? Are the Bears a real good bet to win the NFC? - Back home in Boston, FRITZ |

One way to look at a futures bet like that is ask yourself this - "If the NFL played out the 2009 season 4 different times, would the Pats win the Super Bowl at least once?". If you can confidently say yes, then getting 9/2 odds on the Pats is, in your opinion, a "value" bet. As far as the Bears goes for winning the NFC, I think those are OK odds. Not a ton of value there, and they're not even a slam dunk to win their division. However, if you're confident that they'll get into the playoffs then it could turn into a "value" bet. Ideally, you really just need them to get into the NFC Championship game, and then you could just bet against yourself in order to hedge your bet. |
