Does anyone know the Panthers current cap situation?
 
I'm just wondering how much of a detriment having to carry Peppers' almost $17 million cap charge is on them?

I'm wondering how motivated they would be to rid themselves of Peppers. Would they rescind the tag for example?

From what Dale...Holley others have said today..the Panthers are against the cap pretty tight..meaning they do need to unload him..OR basically stay put

As of March 5th, they were supposedly $8.3 million under the cap.

Bad, they have hardly any room with Peppers current deal, and the worse part is that he doesn't want to play for them anymore

So we have established that the Panthers aren't in ideal position to wait this out. At least not if they wish to field a competitive team this year.

One other question. Who are the 4 teams Peppers is rumoured to only be willing to sign a long term deal with?

An equally important question is where the Patriots come up with

17 million to accomplish the first stage of the signing? Later this

figure would diminish if a long term signing followed.

They are supposedly still "unnamed" but they aren't supposed to be anywhere near the team New England is and he doesn't feel as comfortable going to them as he does going to the Pats.

Im am pretty sure I read that the other 2 teams are Redskins & Giants but I do not remember the source. I do know that I read the other teams are all NFC and I know i read one of the Teams are the Redskins, not 100% on the Giants

So, does anyone think the Panthers would rescind Peppers tag and free up some very much needed cap room should interest level in trading for him wane?

That's not how it would work. The Panthers would sign Peppers to a contract that the Pats agreed upon with Peppers agent. Peppers - now under contract - would be traded to NE.
