Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports New England Patriots CB Shawn Springs' deal is worth in excess of $10.5 million over three years, a source told ESPN's John Clayton. If Springs reaches all of his playing incentives he could make as much as $13 million.

Interesting. I would have thought that he would have signed a 1 year deal given his age. Then again, this is being reported by ESPN so take it with a grain of salt.

The key, of course, is how much money is guaranteed. Remember Corey Dillon's contract.

Yes, I suspect that when details emerge this will not be a 3-year deal.

I completely agree. The numbers seem high and the timeframe seems long.

Springs is a much better cornerback than the players like Fernando Bryant

and Jason Webster who signed one year contracts.

And, Clock Killin Corey Dillon had a great 1st year of his contract! Dominated the playoff game against the Colts. I'd like to see Springs do the same........:D

I still think this will be followed by them signing Bodden to a similar deal.

That along with Wheatly and Wilhite would prepare them for Hobbs departure after next season.....

Miguel will probably have some information on this soon.

Stallworth might spend just one year with Patriots - NFL - ESPN

These contracts are always filled with potential value. The key to understanding these contracts is signing bonus and the team's cap hit if the player is released.

My gut tells me the deal is similar in structure and in spirit to Stallworth's deal 2 years ago.

I'd bet a nice chunk of that money is in year three, and that he won't see it.
