Rumor: Washington to sign Albert Haynesworth

This has not been confirmed by a major site, though NFL network and ProFootballTalk have both aired it:

The Z Report: Albert Haynesworth will be a Washington Redskin

Rumor is for a $100 million contract averaging $15-16M/year. With Washington, I'll believe anything. Again, not confirmed, but interesting.

Snyder is the go to guy when you want an outrageous contract haha.

Works for me, any time an AFC contender loses a player to an NFC team it helps us.

Yeah saw that what an insane price! 100M gotta be ****tin me I don't even know how the skins can afford him last I saw they had almost negative cap room. Their front office is starting to remind me of the Raiders now with these ridiculous signings every year. Hopefully this possible signing won't have such a large effect on resigning big Vince.

It's a gross overpayment -- which in effect takes them out of the running for Cassel.

it helps the entire NFL (except the redskins) for haynesworth to be locked up with 100M.......at least in terms of the fact that the only time he's been anything is when he had been in the last year of his deal or playing tagged......

nothing like fine dining in DC to fatten fat albert up

For stupid contracts, he's the Tom Hicks of football. How does he stay within cap limits every year?

Well that isn't cheating or anything. Since tampering is clearly against the rules, of course it isn't cheating. This is the hypocrisy of the NFL. The Pats get raked over the coals for videotaping signals that anyone in the stadium can steal, but a team can blatantly negotatiate a contract with a player still under contract with another team and no one cares and the fans of that team who were on a moral high horse over spygate cheers that their team benefitted from cheating.

I was hoping he would stay in the same division as Peyton and continue to knock him on his ass for the rest of his career. Oh well, I guess he gets to pick on little Manning now. :D

So I understand the concept of backloading, and I recognize I have little knowledge when it comes to the intricacies of the salary cap. But how does Washington ever stay within it's bounds?
