Here is an idea.. if you don't like the Stimulus Bill..Don't take the money

A great simplistic idea, if you oppose the stimulus bill and believe it is bad for America.. put your money where your mouth is and refuse to take it.. or you can betray your beliefs, and just take it.. the same I assume will be true for the income tax deduction next year.. all the righties can start a movement and not take it... all the righties on Unemployment can send back the $25.00 they get extra and not take the $2400 deduction.. put your money where your mouth is, I encourage all those who think this is a really bad idea to take a stand.

Commentary: If you oppose stimulus, don't take the money - CNN.com

Quote:

If Republican politicians are so deeply opposed to President Obama's economic recovery plan, they should refuse to take the money. After all, if you think all that federal spending is damaging, there are easy ways to reduce it: Don't take federal money.

Gov. Sanford can lead the way. South Carolina should decline to accept any federal funds for transportation, education, health care, clean energy or any of the other ideas President Obama is advocating to fix the economy. And the rest of the GOP can follow suit.

Justice Louis Brandeis famously called states "laboratories of democracy." So let's experiment. Gov. Sanford can be the guinea pig. His Palmetto State already gets $1.35 back from Washington for every dollar it pays in federal taxes, according to 2005 numbers, the latest calculated by the Tax Foundation, a nonprofit tax research group.

Heck no, I'll keep the money. I'm gonna take that extra $8 a week and use it to buy a new car. That should kick-start the economy and save the auto industry to boot.

Yeah because it's all about the little token handouts that us avg. people will be getting that will make the difference. So are you saying we shouldn't question this hunk of rubbish bill and just let Obama slide for ripping off the tax payers to pay back his campaign boosters?

Not at all, saying put your money where your mouth is.. take a stand.. don't take the income tax deduction.. if you collect unemployment, send back the $25.00 to the state.. just be true to your beliefs.. just think if everyone did this, what a wonderful world.

If you are in a related construction field, do not take the job, go to a service industry job.. work in non stimulus related businesses.. think of the possibilities.. it is endless.

That's pretty absurd.
So you need to (Please be quiet - edited) unless you let everyone take a peice of what is, effectively a tax refund for those who pay taxes while you refuse the refund yourself? The stimulus is a joke and we all know it. I'll take as much of my taxes back as possible because the Feds are blowing it anyways on foreign aidm the military, and the "stimulus".

Why do you support the plan, anyways? What makes you think it isn't perfume on a pig (pardon the expression)

Have never stated my support, do not know if it will work, something needs to be done, but there are a whole lot of detractors on this board who are convinced that it will not.. so for them I offer an option, so they can be true to their beliefs.

BTW do not need to (Please be quiet - edited)... thanks for the advice though, will take it under advisement.

I won't get a penny from this stimulus. I guess all the taxes I paid last year are going to the majority of Americans but not me.

What a joke.

Strangely, people seem to enjoy getting angry with those making more than them...I never understood that. So people making less than the ceiling on the stimulus seem to feel they deserve it more than those who "make too much" to get it. Can ANYONE explain that rationally?
