Which Player do think is more important

This may or may not happen but who do you think is more important to the Patriot in the overall scheme.. and why

Wilfork or Seymour??

Reason I ask.. But both players are FA at the end of next season unless they are extended (which I think only one will) the Front Office will have to decide who to franchise..

Easy ... Wilfork. Not to demean Seymour, but no contest.

Seymour is a great player, but Wilfork is the staple of the D-Line in our 3-4

It's like asking a mother which of her children she loves more.

That said, I go with the "planet theory"--it's slightly easier to find the next Richard Seymour than it is the next Wilfork (pace, Ochmed, about Mount Cody ;)).

Re: Which Player do think is more important

My take is both Seymour and Wilfork play at an elite level. But considering Seymours age, he'll be 31 when his deal is done and the amt of injury time the past few years, I think Wilfork is the better of the two. Add to the fact NT in a 3-4 is difficult to find, I cant see how the Pats don't extend him and let Seymour go..

Wilfork, Seymour and Thomas are the 3 most important defenders, and in that order.

Seymour.....when healthy he is the best de-linemen we have. They both IMO easily have another contract in their prime years and if you asked me to chose I am going with Big Sey. Vince is a very close second and the de doesn't work right with out a guy like him but you can get a hog like Keith Traylor to fill the gap and you can't just replace Seymour as easily.

Don't get me wrong Vince is much better than Traylor was when he was here but he worked too....

When you consider the importance of the NT position in the system and look at age and upside, theres only one answer.

Wilfork plays NT. Both are great players, but positional importance gives the nod to Wilfork, especially with all the other teams that are going to be converting to the 3-4 and looking for NTs.

Very true, the most important position to have a stud if you play a 3-4 is the nose tackle.

Given the popularity of the 3-4 why wouldn't Wilfork explore the free agent market? He's younger than Hampton or Williams and just as if not better than them.
