Solve a bet (NFL Coin Toss)
How often does the team who wins the toss elect to receive?

Nice line...
It used to be always. But now you can defer so it's still more than 50% but not close to always. Up through last year if you chose to receive, and then the other team would choose to receive in the 2nd half. If you chose to kick, the other team would get the ball twice. Now, you can choose to defer your decision to the 2nd half, which wasn't an option before. |

I think virtually every team defers now.

JoePats, are you sure about that?
I think choosing to receive the ball in the 2nd half was always an option... |

Most teams defer to the second half.
I believe it's because you have a chance to get more possessions during the game. |
Re: Solve a bet (NFL Coin Toss)
You might be right....
I think teams always had the option to kick or receive to start the game though and get the ball in the second half and are just doing it more now.... |
