Some EPIC FAIL "reporting"

Wow. Even Tomase isn't this stupid.

Where Brady was fearless before, will this injury leave an imprint in his mind, a slight doubt or panic whenever he hears the oncoming feet of a defensive end? He wouldn't be the first recovering quarterback to have had his confidence shaken so.

Unfortunately, the Patriots have to make a decision before seeing Brady in action again. The only sure way they will keep Cassel is to franchise him, which would make Brady an unrestricted free agent - and perhaps cost the team the best quarterback it has ever had.

I do recall hearing multiple times that "nobody on this team makes more money than Tom Brady."

Franchising Cassel would make him get paid more than Tom

IF Brady's contract actually has a clause in it that says that if the Patriots sign someone for more than Brady, then Brady is an UFA, well then that might actually be the case.

Miguel - do you know if that is the case?

I'm not speaking for Miguel here, but doesn't it seem strange that this has never been mentioned before?

I'm more inclined--without evidence to the contrary--to believe that he's simply an idiot.

Well he is either an idiot or brilliant. Either he has no clue what he is talking about or he picked up on something nobody else noticed.

How would he be getting paid more than Tom? Tom's contract was 6 years for 60 milli. Cassel would be earning 14 milli. If you're going strictly by a yearly salary amount, then Tom would've been a UDFA when Asante was tagged last year and had a higher salary than Brady did. There is no such clause, the writer is just an idiot. Not to mention, if for some reason the team released/traded Brady, they would still be on the hook for a $10 milli cap charge next year, which, as we discussed in other threads, but you seemingly fail to acknowledge or accept, will never happen.

I tend not to buy it. You may remember the Broncos cooking the books with contract figures and salary cap details during the Elway era. I do not think anything other than the salary cap relevant details of a contract need be disclosed to the NFL/public. If that is the case, Brady, his agent or the team would have to leak that condition to the media (that is a personal condiition, not a salary cap detail). All the main sports sources (ESPN, Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, etc.) have said nothing all this time despite discussing Cassel and Brady, and that is a fairly major point. My money is on the article being garbage.

With that said, as Brady has taken a hit to stay here (despite his high salary) I would not be surprised if he put that clause in his contract as a condition of the hometown discount.

AHN is filler news material for websites too cheap to pay for the Associated Press. It shows.
