Notable final weeks of regular season in Patriots history

the old timers will have to help me pre-merger...

1971 - Jim Plunkett and Randy Vataha stun the Colts in Baltimore giving the division to Miami
1977 - Again in Baltimore, this time Colts prevail when Bert Jones fumble is called not a fumble.
1978 - Having already clinched the division, Patriots lose at Miami 23-3 on MNF in the midst of the Fairbanks/Sullivan fiasco
1980 - Patriots get no help, miss playoffs with a 10-6 record
1982 - In final week of strike shortened season, Patriots make the playoffs by beating Buffalo at home. Grogan pass to Hasselbeck the key
1983- loss at Seattle eliminates Patriots
1985 - Patriots clinch playoff berth with win over the Bengals at Foxboro. fans are electrocuted on Rt 1 carrying goalposts when they hit wire.
1986 - On MNF, Grogan bomb to Morgan defeats Miami and wins the AFC East
1988- Berry plays Eason in Denver instead of Flutie with playoff berth on the line. Patriots lose.
1993- In what many think is teams final game in New England before heading to St Louis, Rookie Drew Bledsoes OT TD pass eliminates the Dolphins from the playoffs
1994 - In Chicago, the Patriots win their 7th straight 13-3 and clinch their first playoff spot in 8 years.
1996 - Bledsoe leads the comeback in the Meadowlands. Down 22-0, the Patriots rally to win 23-22 to win the #2 seed in the AFC
1997 - As in 1986, the Patriots win the AFC East by beating Miami in Miami on MNF.
2001- Patriots defeat the Panthers to finish 11-5. Later, the Raiders loss gives the Patriots the # 2 seed.
2002- Brady leads a wild comeback win over Miami in OT at home to keep hope alive. Jets win later over Green Bay eliminates the Patriots
2003 - Patriots get revenge on Buffalo 31-0 to win 12th straight and finish 14-2
2004 - Patriots crush the 49ers to finish 14-2 for the 2nd straight year
2007 - Brady to Moss the record breaker in N.Y. Patriots finish 16-0.

Great job!

One more.

1981 - In a battle for the #1 pick in the draft (aka The Toilet Bowl) Pats narrowly lose at Colts as Pats race to the line of scrimmage deep in Balt territory when time expires. Ken Sims is our reward.

I didn't want to look at this thread and be reminded of all the bad things in the past. It wasnt' too bad, however. Thanks for the "trip" down memory lane.

Good catch!! I forgot about that classic game. it looked like both teams were trying to lose to get Sims. When the Colt punter punted it off his centers butt my brother called me laughing hysterically.

How can you exclude 2005 with Flutie's famous drop kick, and Cassel rallying the Pats to within 2, then making a lackadasical attempt at a 2-point conversion to tie the game and send it to OT, accepting a lower seed?
