Will Miami unveil a new formation this week?

Miami waited until the 3rd game of the season to use the wildcat.

Miami waited until it played us to use the wildcat on purpuse, it needed it to surpise us and defeat us. Without it, i do not believe miami would have beat us earlier int he year...

fast forward to this next game...the wildcat still has very good effect, but this many weeks later, it has been analyzed, and the Patriots will be much more ready for it...

so my question is, will Miami use another formation to surprise us this time? I do not this Miami can win this game w/o trick/gimmick plays and/or surpise moves....

so, will miami come up w/ a new formation froom college (or otherwise) in order to catch us by surprise again?

Why not? The last time the Dolphins caught the Patriots with their

pants down.

The wildcat was their big bag of trciks they shot their wad on that one. Time will tell if we can stop it but they won't have another huge surprise like that this time around.

I have a question regarding the wildcat. When an offense lines up in it the QB goes out wide, and the moment he does that he loses his protection as a QB and becomes treated as a WR, so why don't teams just line up a LB across him and as soon as the ball is snapped have the LB lay him out with a ferocious hit, sure that particular play might pick up some yardage but it would deter the team from doing it again if it puts there QB in harms way. During this past game when the Jests went in that formation i wanted BB to line mayo across from favre and knock him on his ass, but instead we have ellis hobbs giving him a fricken 10 yard cushion

It's not just that it was a new formation, but that it allows them to simultaneously use two of their best players at once, Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, when typically they would have to share time since neither is a blocker and neither is a bruiser.

So if a new formation that they unveil uses players whose skills aren't being well-used in conventional pro sets due to duplication, it might work.

The odds of that are slim.

On the other hand, the odds of the wildcat being moderately effective is much higher, since they have good blockers and Ricky and Ronnie have some mad skills.

The speed of Mayo, Guyton, and Meriweather should help shut it down, though

BB was asked this today, and (paraphrasing) his opinion was that it's probably better to pretty much ignore the QB rather than to devote a DB to roughing him up. You are using a player to cover one of the less-likely playmakers, instead of sending that DB after Ricky, Ronnie, Camerillo, or Ginn.

Exactly- the wildcat's so successful for them because of the players they've got more than the surprise/trickery of it all. As you said our speedy guys should be ready and hopefully keep a lid on it. Freakin Ronnie Brown:mad:

Why? The Pats never stopped the Wildcat against the Dolphins and couldn't stop brad smith when the Jets ran it either.

I'm sure they'll have another wrinkle in the game given the magnitude. Pats primary focus will be to shut down the running combo of Williams/Brown.

I'm more concerned about Pennington dinking and dunking like Favre did last week. For some reason this team has not been able to defend against it.
