I don't think this will happen as there would be public outrage. Gone are the days of fighting for patriotism and freedom.

I'm in favor of this. Some form of national service. If you don't do it or you have a dishonorable discharge you are ineligible for all government support (welfare, food stamps, unemployment) for life. If you serve in the military (vs. some other service) you get extra benefits.

Why ? Too much taking things for granted. Too much expectations from government. A lot of kids need a reality check. You could say it's easy for me to say but I have two kids so while I wouldn't be in this, my kids would be. My plan would be for 3 years, though, a lot longer than what's talked about here.

I know... every right winger here is going to nitpick everything Obama is saying. they're looking to stir the pot and if there is just ONE thing we don't agree on apparently we're not behind Obama. I'm not sure how much more i'm gonna post as it gets pretty annoying from a handful of posters.
