Emanual as Chief of Staff

Fox News says he accepted. I know he's a hard assed d!ck (which could be taken as a complement); I hope he's a moderate to go along with that personality - is he ?

Interesting that Obama who was the supposed to be muslim, that his first pick is jewish... he made a name for himself in '06 when he was ahead of the Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee , but despite his age has quite a bit of experience and knows his way around...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahm_Emanuel

Quote:

During the 1991 Gulf War, Emanuel was a civilian volunteer in Israel, rust-proofing brakes on an army base in northern Israel.[8]

He joined then-Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton's presidential primary campaign in 1991, serving as the campaign's Director of Finance. Emanuel insisted that Clinton schedule a lot of time for fundraising and greatly delay campaigning in New Hampshire.

Following the campaign, Emanuel became a senior advisor to Bill Clinton at the White House from 1993 to 1998. In the White House, Emanuel was initially Assistant to the President for Political Affairs and then Senior Advisor to the President for Policy and Strategy. He was a leading strategist in the unsuccessful White House efforts to institute universal healthcare and many other Clinton initiatives.[10]

One of his proudest moments during the Clinton Administration "was an event that touched his political sensibilities and his personal ties to Israel: the 1993 Rose Garden signing ceremony after the Oslo accord between Israel and the Palestinians. Rahm directed the details of the ceremony, down to the choreography of the famous handshake between Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat."[9]

It is my opinion that we are going to find Obama to be far, far wiser than any president we've had in decades. I love the story of how he became pres. of the Harvard Law Review and then gave the majority of the officers/editors jobs to his enemies rather than his fellow black editors.

That tells me a lot about the man and how he builds his alliances. After all, isn't that truly what politics is all about?

Sounds like Lincoln (who gave all his cabinet appointments to his rivals). I also heard last night that Obama studied Reagan extensively.

That is what true statesmen do. They study their history over and over again and learn from both the good and the bad.

Felger of all people made a good point today. Clinton thought he had a mandate to bring the country liberal and it cost him dearly as he lost a few years of progress when the republicans came storming in 2 years later. Like felger said ... Obama has spoken of this and will learn from history ... govern to your Congress, your Senate and your people guarantees success ... i think Obama will be closer to the center than most or some think ... that includes me as recently as a few weeks ago when I was blowing gaskets ... I'm sane again. ;)..:D
