BB on WEEI about Colts game
Says we did what we wanted to do in every way...just made 2 -3 less plays and mistakes which caused the game. Very rarely he says we did everything we could well and came up short...
Also says the colts ran the pick plays a lot. iam hoping someone asks him about the clock at the end of the half where a grand 1 sec ran off from 20-19 on the harrison catch |
Re: BB on WEEI about Colts game
I was wondering why those pick plays weren't called. From my understanding of the definition of a pick, it seemed pretty obvious.
Not only that, but the Colt doing the pick-ing extended his arms into the Pats defender which I thought was not allowed before the pass. |

Re: BB on WEEI about Colts game
The way I understand it, an illegal pick is when the offensive player rubs the defender. If the two offensive players cross their paths, causing the defenders to run into each other, it's legal. Did the Colts actually make contact with the NE defenders??
Edit: Why would you be worried about the clock if the half ended on the penalty? Had there been no infraction, my guess is that the officials would have reviewed the play, timed it, and put the appropriate number of seconds back on the clock. It was moot at that point. |

*I understand that Harrison did not get out of bounds *Manning steps up, grounds the ball *Infraction *Half Over NOW, had their NOT been the infraction, the clock STILL would have stopped. Play clock restarts, out trots the FG unit. BUT, before that takes place, the refs would have seen or been made aware of the clock NOT starting on the previous play, they would have reviewed, and put the appropriate time back on the clock. The fact that they did a 10 second run off tells us that they determined there was AT BEST, only 10 seconds left. Their job ended there, no need to spend any more time with it, it would have been pointless. |

The DID run an illegal pick at least once - Thomas was covering the RB out of the backfield, as he came across the middle of the field. He was all over him (in a good way), when Wayne came across from the other direction, and picked Thomas off - allowing the RB to make the catch for 9 or so yards. Wayne went right for Thomas, too - you could see him square up like a LB would, look right at him, and step into his path. Just before crashing into Thomas, he pulled off a bit, and just nicked him in the arm/shoulder, but it was plenty enough for him to lose his position on the RB and allow the catch. I was going insane on the TV - my wife had to tell me to quiet down before I woke the kids :) |

I think it was early in the 3rd. Let me look at the box score - it was a 8-10 yard gain to the RB (Addai I think) with Thomas in coverage. Edit: I think this is it (memory is hazy) (2nd Q): 2-10-IND 20 (10:14) (Shotgun) 18-P.Manning pass short left to 29-J.Addai pushed ob at IND 30 for 10 yards (96-A.Thomas). |
