Cassel better QB rating than Peyton
Now I know QB rating isn't the greatest stat to go, but who woulda thought our back up QB would have a better QB rating than Peyton?:D

Re: Cassel better QB rating than Peyton
*Yawn* It's an interesting stat but can we please stop putting up comparisons to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning?

Re: Cassel better QB rating than Peyton
Therefore Cassel>Manning ::rolls eyes::

Re: Cassel better QB rating than Peyton
Yeah, but Sorgi has a 90.4 career rate. :(

Re: Cassel better QB rating than Peyton
Shows us a few things.
QB rating is a joke. People who think a QB is better because of his rating are retarded. That said, I hate the Dolts and any nitpicking is fine by me. Cassel is alright. |

Should we not compare the QBS in the league to the two best? Don't expect that a back up a QB will = the best but what is the problem comparing the two? I am kinda tired of hearing the don't compare him to this guy attacks. who should we compare him to Gus Ferotte? well that might be a bad argument as he should be compared to other back ups as well as the best in the league but he certainly shouldn't only be compared to other back ups. Rather than saying don't compare him to this guy we should just be realistic in our expectations when comparing him to the best. And seeing as he is actually holding is own in certain statistics VS the greats than maybe expectations can start rising as he does. |

I don't know if it's the knee and he's still injured or the offensive line not being as good as usual or what; but he's definitely played like an 80 QB rating type of guy and not like his typical dominant self. |

On the other hand, looking at them differently, stats are a valuable tool to help break down and analyze the player in question, although they are not the only measure. |

Now, we all know who is better. We all know which of the 2 is already in the HOF. It also bears mentioning that this will probably be Mannings 1 or 2 worst seasons for passer rating in his career (either this or his rookie season depending on how it shakes out). Tom Brady's worst passer rating for a full season was 85.7 in 2002 (He was marginally better with 85.9 in 2003; I will note Brady's YPA was 6.3 in 2002 and 6.9 in 2003 which is a huge difference) with 28 TDs and 14 INTs and the Pats had a 9-7 record. PLENTY of QBs have had better individual seasons (Favre, Marino, Kelley). Does that mean they are better QBs? No. But, the stat says "Over this period of time (2008 Season), Manning's and Cassell's play have been comprable". They have. |
