NORMANDY, Mo. — Officials plan to start HIV testing at a suburban St. Louis high school where as many as 50 students may have been exposed to the virus that causes AIDS.

St. Louis County spokesman Craig LeFebvre said Wednesday that the mode of transmission in the scare at Normandy High School could include sexual activity, drug use, piercings or tattoos.

The St. Louis County Health Department said last week that a positive HIV test raised concerns that students at Normandy might have been exposed.

The Health Department is not saying whether the infected person was a student. Testing at the school is beginning this week.
