49ers: Mike Singletary now, Pete Carroll next year?
Interesting speculation about San Fran. I'd like to see Singletary succeed there, but it also would be fun to have Pete Carroll back in the NFL. I'm wondering how Singletary will handle Martz.

I actually think that Signletary is going to be a very, very good football coach. He's hardnosed and I can see the 9'ers taking after him in the manner that the Jags do with Del Rio.

Pete should stay in college, its a better job as USC and he's a better college coach.

Yeah, I don't know why Pete would ever want to leave USC...especially for the 49ers. He's got something pretty good over there.

Every year this question comes up (though usually it's not until December or January.) Some NFL team cans their coach and rumors swirl about Pete.
Look, I like the guy. I stood up for him like nobody's business during his last two years in NE (well, until the final third of the '99 season when it became obvious it wasn't working out.) But he shouldn't coach in the NFL. Pete's coaching style works better at the college level. He's got a great thing going at USC. As for Singletary, it's about time he got a shot at a head coaching job. |
