ATTN: There is no such thing as the Super Bowl's loser "curse"
Has this board really sunk that low? We're attributing an injury and two losses thusfar to a curse? The obvious response to this thread is "Well, duh" but a majority of people honestly believe in this.

The Seattle Seahawks lost the Super Bowl in 2005 and followed up the loss in 2006 with their third straight division title and a playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys. Where was the curse? Did the curse take a year off, perhaps on vacation? I didn't realize curses could be inconsistent. There are no such things as curses in sports. Unless the Red Sox and Rays have some magical voodoo powers. |

Maybe not a curse. But 9 out of 10 years is a trend.

Well we lost the Super Bowl and have been cursed with a QB that has only thrown for 3 TDs in 5 games and is barely over 900 yards passing - so take it for what its worth

Curses? Voo-Doo? Everyone on here has gone wacko.
Has it occurred to anyone that this just might be an off season for us? I know no one wants to think about it but it also seems to me that more than half the people on this site have given up on the Patriots Organization as a whole. IMO, we need to stand behind our team no matter what. Does anyone feel that way any more? |
Re: ATTN: There is no such thing as the Super Bowl's loser "curse"
I can think of several teams that have lost a Super Bowl and then came back to win the following year. You would have thought that people today are a bit more enlightened than to believe that events happen due to curses, karma, and lucky t-shirts, but apparently that is not so.

As for Super Bowl "curses"? I agree it's a myth... 1) What hurt the Bears last year was Grossman getting another 9th life. Look at them this year-they finally solved their QB problems(Orton is playing well). 2) In '01, 9/11 all but put a dent in the Giants season-otherwise, they had a very good team. 3) Those '02 Raiders haven't done squat since they went to that Super Bowl, largely b/c of Al Davis. 4) The Panthers lost their entire OL in '04 to FA, but they were a win away from going back to the playoffs at the end. If they had made it, who knows? The NFC favorite Eagles were without Owens, and they would have matched up well with them. 5) And less not forget the '00 Titans were the best team in football until they went 1 and done in the playoffs, largely b/c of their kicker. Pt being that curses and bad coaching/FO moves/catastrophic events are not correlated at all. |

What about lucky pants? I didn't see any red one's on the outside of Brady's game pants when he got hit. |

It's not a curse. It is a small sample.

Stop double-cursing us! Quick, someone run over a black cat.
