How many "fans" here would bail on the Patriots if they go 8-8 or worse?
Because i suspect half the people here are spoiled frontrunners who would run away like rats on a sinking ship if they werent gauaranteed a team that competed for a championship. Suddenly they would only be wearing Red Sox Red or Celtic Green.
As a Patriots fan that has loved them for 30 years, good or bad, and is grateful for all the joy they have given me, I feel they owe me nothing. I said it after they won SB 36. If they went 4-12 for 8 straight years i will always be a Patriots fans because they have given me far more than I could or would give to them. This is not about the fans discussing potential moves or talking realistic football. Its the phony fans out there, the Yahoos who say this guy sucks or that guy sucks because his team lost a football game. If nothing else, this season is going to weed out the fake fans, the losers with no character who at the first sign of trouble, bail and whine and complain. Go root for the Jets or something, or go find that perfect team that never loses a game and wins you 10 championships in a row. Go Patriots!!!!!!!! If you make the playoffs without Brady, i for one will be as thrilled as i was when they clinched a playoff berth in 1976 or 1985 or 1998 And if they dont, what do you expect, Brady was out. people, try to enjoy what we have had and what we HAVE. |

That's a horrid question...
I will never "bail" on my favorite sports team, but I can freely question and criticize their moves, execution, and decision making... |

We are 3-2 and they are in the process of jumping now.

I wouldn't bail on them. They'd always be #1 with me.
I'd just kind of tone it down a bit, not follow them so closely. |

Quote:
I became a fan the year they drafter Drew, I had just got old enough to understand following a team and the excitement of having a stud QB was wnough to make me interested... I followed through some bad years... 8-8 would not be the worst thing. My only concern going 8-8 is how does the team restock the team for Brady and Moss after all the retirements... This team is loaded with people on the brink of retirement, and this season will push many of them to hang them up... |

Not this fan, I'd have to change my name. I was a fan when they finished 1-15 and I will be if they ever do that again.

I think most everyone tones it down when the team is disappointing.
How much Patriots coverage did you watch the week after this past Super Bowl? How much did you watch after Super Bowl XXXVI? There you go. P.S. Another black and white question answered in shades of gray. |
Re: How many "fans" here would bail on the Patriots if they go 8-8 or worse?
Nice troll OP.
Anyway, so long as BB or other competent leadership is around and the team is competitive or at least has direction, I'll follow the team. If Matt Millen were the GM, I'd take a sabbatical. And let's not start the masturbatory garbage about "true fans". |
Re: How many "fans" here would bail on the Patriots if they go 8-8 or worse?
I think the better question is how many people will turn on Belichick if this team goes 8-8. There are already people talking about the only difference between Belichick now and Belichick in Cleveland is Brady. No matter how ridiculous that argument is.
I don't think people in this town are quick to jump off the bandwagon, but many of them are quick to turn on coaches and players when things go wrong. Usually with Pats fans it is a case of turning on one person for all the problems of the team. Right now it is Cassel. In the past it has been McDaniels, Caldwell, Beisel, etc. I think if this team doesn't go over .500 the person may be Belichick at the end of the season. Again as ridiculous that sounds. |
