Illegal immigration declines as U.S. economy falters
One good thing about a bad economy it keeps certain people from wanting to get in.
Illegal immigration declines as U.S. economy falters - Yahoo! News WASHINGTON - Illegal immigration, which has sparked political and social turmoil in communities across the nation, is on the wane, according to an independent report released Thursday. The number of illegal immigrants entering the United States has slowed significantly the past few years, falling below the number of those entering the country legally, according to the report by the Pew Hispanic Center, a Washington think tank. The report estimates there were 11.9 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. as of March. That would be a decline of 500,000 from the center's estimate a year ago. However, the change was not statistically significant because of the large margins of error. |

Soon maybe Mexicans will be shooting Americans trying to sneak into Mexico.

Re: Illegal immigration declines as U.S. economy falters
I was talking to some business acquantices the other day. One big problem here in the northeast is how many Latin-Americans have been headed to Georgia, South & North Carolina areas. The business climate has kind of saturated down south so less illegals are trying to come here and some who left will be hopefully coming north again.
It's kind of odd reading economy stories because here in the northeast we have been down for a while now. We lost(shed) many of our illegals and newly legals before the south did because our econmy dried up a bit sooner. Going to a global economy perhaps hurt more in some cases than others. But now people in Mexico and elsewhere are demanding higher wages and better working conditions and that will help things out here. What goes around comes around. When people artificially delay the inevitable it tends to hurt more than help as the recent bailout has shown. We held on to our factories longer than we should have and it hurt the northeast economy more than helped. Now that many factories have been replaced by modern plants ... we should see jobs increase up here before the south does ... legal Latin-Americans will return and our economy will be better. Not quite yet ... but soon ... perhaps 3 years or so. |
