UConn players?
Sadly, given that i live in CT, I really haven't had the chance to see them play.
Any UConn players look interesting, either in this year's draft or future ones? |
Re: UConn players?
I'm currently a Sophomore at UConn... I would say definitely a few potential prospects:
SR Darius Butler - CB/WR - great cover guy, UConn's been using him on offense as well this year, explosive - Mel Kiper's mock draft has him predicted as an early first round pick JR Donald Brown- RB - leads the nation in rushing, 2006 All Big East, it'll be interesting to see how he holds up once they get more into conference play...this guy is an absolute beast who I'd assume is still a sleeper draft-wise Another guy who I think could possibly end up in the pros somewhere if he continues to develop is Soph. LB Scott Lutrus...freshman All-American last season with great hands, speed, and a nose for the football - he might be a little small as a LB (but has time to put on weight), but could also end up playing somewhere in the defensive backfield. This kid is tough and gritty I would love to see him in a Pats uni somewhere down the line. |

Re: UConn players?
Two running backs who seem to be well under the radar right now are Brown and the kid from Syracuse...Brinkley, I think, who is putting up some pretty good numbers for a putrid team with no passing attack and shaky offensive line.

Dave Teggart. Best kicker ever.

Re: UConn players?
I am a UConn season ticket holder. My take:
UConn has a lot of promise on defense. Lawrence Wilson and Greg Lloyd Jr (yes, his father is the former Steeler) are also great, young players to go with Lutrus as a previous poster stated. They are going to be at least one more year away. Cody Brown is a pass rushing senior DE who could, COULD make the switch to OLB in a 3-4, though I am not sure what is ability is in space, coverage. There is some young depth at DT, though UConn doesn't typically recruit the big, stout DT's. Instead, they tend to go for the quicker guys who will get to the qb like Indy seems to enjoy. The o-line is fairly young and very deep. The best may be highly recruited OT Jimmy Bennett but he is red shirting this year and is a ways off. Punter Desi Cullen (jr) is solid, if not spectacular. He also handles kickoffs. Running back Andre Dixon was all big east last year but has been over shadowed by Brown's outstanding performance so far this year. If Brown leaves early (never thought I'd say that of a UConn player!), he could have a huge year next year. In truth, UConn can run four or five backs out there that are of starting quality. Down the line, Jasper Howard (soph cb), Kashif Moore (redshirt frosh wr), and Jordan Todman (true frosh rb/wr) are all guys who will deserve a look when their numbers come up. |
Re: UConn players?
Darius Butler would be an interesting pick.
CB/WR/KR Use him mainly as a CB, but throw him out there as a 3rd or 4th WR when we need a big play. Versatile players have been key to the Pats success. |
