No Ghosts in the kicking game...

Good article on Gostowski

Very nice article.

It's amazing to think now of how upset we were when Adam V left, Ghost's consistency has quickly made me forget those hard feelings.

It's good to have a kicker you can trust.

Dave Brown does an excellent job for the local paper. I just miss Dan Pires!

Re: No Ghosts in the kicking game...

I love the leg strength he's brought, especially on kickoffs. Field position has been a big advantage for the Pats in recent years. However, I have yet to see him make a last second playoff 40+ yarder. But from all I've seen of him, I have every confidence he'd make it. And if he never has to, maybe that isn't a bad thing.

With regards to Vinatieri, no matter what future Pats kickers do, I for one can never forget him, simply because he was the one that made all of those big kicks. That leads me to thinking, how many other kickers come to mind when you think of a career of big kicks? A number of kickers stick out in terms of consistency, range and longevity, but big spot after big spot, season after season? I find it just amazing that he had so many opportunities to kick in big spots with the Pats. How many kickers go through an entire career having just a couple of chances to kick that last second game winner they've dreamed about their whole kicking lives? Never mind in playoffs and super bowls. And that he just kept making them, wow.

The only other kicker that comes to mind that has had numerous opportunities would have to be Vanderjagt...and we all know how that worked out.

For it to really count as a good article, they should have spelled his name right in the headline! :p But yes, you'd have to take Gostkowski over Vinatieri today.

BTW, you can learn a bit about a player's status by typing his name into Google and seeing the popular searches they suggest. Start typing Vinatieri and they suggest "Vinatieri salary." Start typing Gostkowski and they suggest "Gostkowski fantasy."

(So other people are having Stephen Gostkowski fantasies too?

I'm joking. Really.)

He is one of the top 5 kickers in football, and thankfully he is a Patriot. I'm interested to see how clutch he is, I wish he was allowed to kick that field goal in the SB. Vinatieri is the clutchest kicker of all time, but the Gost is becoming one helluva kicker.

I was not all that upset that Adam left...his choice..If he had stayed, fine, but once he left, I KNEW they had to find a kicker..and wasn't at all surprised they got Guts. My big concern was more the baseball aspect of it all..but once he was drafted, I knew he'd work out fine.
