That's true of the Red Sox and Celtics, but I can't think of a player in the BB regime that succumbed to the media to the point it effected his performance.

Montey Beisel seemed to be bothered by the media coverage, when he ripped into Stacey James about being a "PR GUY".
Then again, I don't think that the media coverage has anything to do with it. Beisel just flat out SUCKED.

He did. Remember Duane Starks

Doesn't anyone remember when David Givens first got here.He had stone fingers, ran poor routes and jumped up to catch passes 4 feet off the ground.

He then quietly, worked hard, played ST's and established a rapport with both TB and the coaching staff.

This kid is 23 yrs old getting too much scrutiny from the media and the fans.

Name the 4th or 5th receiver on the Colts,Cowboys,Giants,SD,Pitts,GB or Clevland.

...can't?...me neither...because it doesn't matter. This offense of Wr's,Te's and running backs is 'friggin loaded.

If CJ makes a couple of plays, fine,I'll be happy...if not,he's still on a rookie contract,so it would be stupid to let him go.

yes but isnt david givens a late round pick or something? not like chad jackson whom we gave up something to GB to get him... at least with givens, we have low expectations of him and he made his way into the lineup... but we CJ, we gave up a chance to get like a greg jennings or something... BB makes mistakes, and i can live with that...
im not into letting CJ go either, just dont have high hope on him, he'll just disappoint you...

I will always remember how Beisel got run over by Jared Lorenzen in an '05 preseason game. I think we all knew that the defense was in deep s*** with him starting at MLB.

no i would say a bust is not getting on the field making plays, so your telling me if he is on the 53 roster but never contributes he is a success???

Nah, but if Belichick still has him on there's a purpose. I actually don't think highly of Jackson as he's proven nothing since being drafted but niether me or you is the head coach of the New England Patriots.

The Pats tend to use negative media as a motivator more than anything else-Rodney's a prime example of that. Corey Dillon was another, Randy Moss...it's good to have something to prove :) I'm also sure that, at least for the most part, the players are pretty aware of what's the buzz and we've been fortunate that our guys handle it the way they do-they either ignore it or use it to their advantage.

As far as Chad goes, he's had negative press here for a long time-he'd even commented at the time about the "immaturity" opinions that were circulating a couple of years ago.

BB and our locker room keep a lot of players thinking straight. I do agree that our media is probably one of the most critical around, and that many have had an absolute field day with the Patriots especially.

I refuse to empower them any more by saying they have the ability to make or break a player though:mad: and I'm tired of them being the story.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Chad Jackson is going to surprise everyone this season when he starts catching balls like he did early in his rookie season. He really hasn't practice much with the team since his rookie year so he is going to make mistakes. And it doesn't help when you have a sorry QB throwing you the ball. Lastly, what is he suposed to do with the balls that Cassel threw to him? One was a screen that wasn't going anywhere and the other should have been thrown over his shoulder and not towards the sideline where the CB was hanging out. Why does everyone expect Jackson to throw DB's on the ground and take every pass for six? Whether or not Jackson ran the "wrong route", Cassel is a moron for throwing that ball towards the sideline. Cassel was yelling at Jackson because he needed a scapegoat and not look as stupid. I remember his rookie season where people were negative on Jackson saying "he looks lost", "he's doesn't know the offense", and then his first game of the season he catches a TD. Everyone needs to relax! If he is a bust, he's a bust. It happens to every team. It's not going to cripple the offense or the franchise. If he's a stud, it will make the offense that more dangerous.

just a hunch but i bet you believe in santa claus, the easter bunny, the tooth fairy and the boogie man!

There have been Brinks trucks run over by Lorenzen. Beisel wasn't very good, but no shame in getting run over by a hippo in pads.

Hart's view is obviously pretty negative on Jackson as a WR.

He suggests Jackson as never more than a longshot at PR.

He said Jackson got "coached up" at SCOUT TEAM gunner. That suggests he's not seriously in the mix at gunner either at this time.

By the way, I liked the other post on 7 on 7s in which the defenders played offense with the offensive players covering them on their routes.

We will know soon enough about Jackson, two more pre-season games. This one against TB is obviously very important for him.

I know it would have been hard for him to crack the WR slots last season. But punt and kick returns were a spot where we could have used him due to injury and to avoid injury to starters who are invaluable to this team, since he was taking up a roster spot anyway. Shortly after he was activated BB was talking to Dierdorf in a pregame conference and predicted that we would see him in the return game very soon. Never happened. Well, it did once but it was totally uninspiring and they didn't attempt it again - had Maroney sub for Hobbs in the superbowl even. If nothing else this is where he could begin to distance himself from the rest of the competition, and maybe get a leg up on competing with Gaffney for that 3rd (or second outside or second mid range) WR. I know it's only the second week of this pre season. But it's the 13th week of another off season and he's had passing camps and mini camps and a three weeks of training camp... I guarantee you Bill would welcome a player who could handle returns while subbing as a WR so that starters didn't have to. But he won't have one unless he can be counted on to produce consistently as Welker, Hobbs and Faulk have.

I do think that the PFW guys have it in for him over the whole Allisonlovesbrady BS, and they likely want to see him fail on some level to prove that while Casale was a creep and a jerk he wasn't a total moron...

But others see it (or don't as the case may be) too. His ballwashers are beginning to sound as shrill and reactionary as the bashers. Remember, you don't get chances here - you earn them. Regardless of which round you were drafted in. Forget whose throwing him the ball, Bill sees beyond that. If Brady isn't it's because he isn't earning throws from him. He will sink or swim on his own merits or lack thereof. Last season they might well have IR'd him but it was hard to even PUP him with public pronouncements coming from his agent. He had a half season and playoffs worth of full practices with this team and still appears to be struggling to earn a roster spot. That has nothing to do with Matt Cassel or any other player on the team save those rookies outperforming him in practice and in pre season action. Lots of guys look the part on draft day, far fewer achieve their apparent potential. Which is what allows late rounders and UDFA's to claw their way into and surprisingly even excel at starting jobs in the NFL.

Wow. The guy farts and we wanan cut him. Can we at least wait until the damn season? Please? I'm not defending the guy, **** there's nothing to defend over this really. But all this overreacting over a preseason game and a damn practice. Can we at least give the guy time to play on sundays? Good lord, some of you people stick on hating a guy like stink on ****.

It doesn't matter what round he was picked in...he's here. What do you want to do,shoot Pioli for not drafting Gregg Jennings?
That was 3 years ago!....jeez

We averaged over 30 points a game last year.....these high draft choices did not contribute much to that average:

1.Chad Jackson
2.David Thomas
3.Laurence Maroney

They all have been injured, but no matter.
CUT THEM...I don't care if they're young and short money.

I want them Cut,NOW!

We'll then wait for Gregg Jennings,Joseph Addai,Marques Colston and Antonio Gates to become free agents.

Then you'll see....we'll average 32.5 pts a game and be 30m over the cap.

The sky is falling!.....DO IT NOW!
