Not sure if anyone's had a chance to try Madden 09 for PS3 and Xbox360 yet, but if you have, can you share your impressions? Madden 08 was much better for Xbox360, but the PS3 was still very new then. I'm planning on getting one or the other, and with GTA IV being comprable on both, Madden will be the deciding factor.

I did some checking for other reasons, and it seems that PS3 is supposed to be a tremendous Blu-Ray DVD player.

Not even close - PS3 over 360 by a mile....

And the 60gb PS3 which is out of production but can be bought used will play all ps3 games as well as ps2 and even ps1 and of course Blu Ray movies,DVDvideos and CDs - Its a hell of a system with so many things you can do with it

PS3 is the better, more capable machine. Having said that, past Maddens on X-Box and PS2 were very comparable. I think it boils down to which controller you like the most.

I love the PS controllers because they are expanded versions of the old nintendo controllers....The XBOX is just to foreign to me.

Nintendo Controllers went from two buttons + dpad(up down left right) to 6 buttons + dpad when super nintendo came out and the PS1 went from 6 to 8 still with dpad and the PS2 went from 8 +dpad to 8+dpad+two joy sticks (which I still barely use hit stick/truck only I still use the dpad). The PS3 is pretty much the same plus the 6 axis controll thing which I hate.

Thats my rant on controllers.

I'm leaning towards PS3, but since Madden is my favorite game I want to make sure the PS3 version is at least comprable. The 2008 PS3 version was terrible - if 2009 has the same problems I'd get the inferior Xbox360 to play a better Madden.

Another ps3 vote

I have both, and the ps3 is an all together better media machine (blu ray and other things), but strictly videogames, I like the 360 better if I could only have one. If a game's on both systems, I get the 360 b/c I like Live better than the ps3 online network. I also prefer the 360 controller.

As for Madden 09, I'm hearing it's identical on both systems, unlike last year's version.

360. One, even though X Box Live is 50 bucks a year, it is the best online service out there, a lot better than the PSN Network. Also, the 360 controller is somewhat like the PS2/PS3 controller, if not I think better. Also the 360 is cheaper, you can get the 60 GB 360 for 350, compared to 400 for the 40 GB PS3, along with the fact that the PS3 only comes with standard A/V cables, and the 360 comes with component HD cables, so if you want high def, you have to fork over extra money.

Both versions are the same this year, unlike last year when the PS3 version was lacking behind the 360, it depends on what features you are looking for, if your looking for single player, I would get the PS3, but if your looking for online, I would go on the 360.

If you are just going to play by yourself, you'll want to fork over the extra cash for the PS3. If you want to play online(which makes the game 10x better imo) than you have to go with the 360. The online community is huge and is much more stable compared to PS3.

Fanboi's can go back and forth...

get what you like..

I got a PS3 and i love the thing..the PSNetwork is great (don't let the haters tell you different)...i love the bluray..and I am used to the controller

My buddy has an xbox 360...it is great too..well, except that he is on his 4th xbox because they keep breaking...

I have a 360 myslef and I love it. XBL is great. I have 3 friends who have both PS3 and 360 and they all say that PSN pales when compared to XBL. But 2 of those 3 are on their 3rd 360. At least they don't have to pay anything to get them fixed. I'm hoping to buy a PS3 sometime between my brithday and Christmass. For cross platform games (evrything being equal, ie. quality/no exclusive DLC) I'm going to keep getting the 360 version especially if the game is multiplayer heavy. I'm going to use the PS3 for movies and PS3 only games.

As a PS3 owner and having played both systems, I would go with the PS3 for a variety of reasons.

Online play. Better on the 360 with more capabilities, but that costs you 50 bucks or whatever a year. PS3 has good online gaming that is free, not to mention you can hook up a bluetooth headset instead of buying a XBOX headset. But if you are just playing with your friends, it does not matter. Though if you are playing random people online, XBOX is better.

Graphics. XBOX 360 has had better graphics in recent games because it was out for a year longer, thus programmers knew how the xbox worked and used it capabilities better than the PS3, which was new at the time. But, since the PS3 has been out for 2 years, programmers are now using the PS3 capabilities more, which are way better than the 360. PS3 uses a blueray format while the 360 uses DVD. In 2-3 years, you will really see the PS3 move ahead of the 360 graphic wise, which is the Microsoft is already working on xbox 720 or w/e it is called. PS3 is now going to have better graphics.

Controllers. Basically, they are the same. XBOX has the joystick where the PS3 has the d-pad and vice versa. It all depends on your preference. In games, in seems that R1 on the ps3 is used as RT (R2 on ps3) on Xbox. PS3 has rumble and 6 axis while XBOX only has rumble. XBOX seems to have a more sensative joystick compared to the PS3.

PS3 is backward compatible while some 360 versions are not.

Basically, PS3 is better because it is a more powerful system, and since the XBOX was out earlier it had a headstart and the graphics look better, but now we have reached the point where they are the same and soon the PS3 will be superior than the XBOX.

Actually you have that backwards. All 360 versions are backwards compatible through software emulation. They will not play everygame though since not all games followed the same specs. They are constantly updating the software emulator to allow more and more original Xbox games to be played on 360.
PS3 on the other hand on their launch models (60GB and 20GB) had basically stuffed a PS2 inside the PS3 case (together with the PS3 of course). But the newer models either do not have any backward compatibility at all (40GB) or they have it through software emulation (80GB).

For this game, it doesn't matter, but for an all around gaming experience, it's the PS3.

When it comes to Madden, the real choice is PS3/360 versus the Wii. The Wii version this year is substantially different - if you don't mind the drop in graphic fidelty, you gain an extra 5v5 "schoolyard football" mode and the ability to draw your own hot routes when you audible in game. I'll likely pick up the PS3 version and rent the Wii version.

The Xbox360 and PS3 are very comparable at this point. While PS3 has superior hardware, the problem lies in no third party developers have really taken advantage of it because this Cell processor of Sony's is something out of the norm for them. That's why the 360's library of games is consistently better than Sony or Nintendo's at this stage. XBox Live Arcade has a lot of great minigames on it as well. I'm hooked on Geometry Wars 2 (think of a remix of Asteroids)
If you're lucky enough to have both, I'd go with the 360 so you can game via Xbox Live. Live is a pay service though (I find it worth it), PSN is free.

If you think you can take advantage of the Bluray drive, go for the PS3. Strictly gaming, the 360 wins hands down. Better library, comparable graphics quality to PS3 (it's easy to find comparison screenshots of games online), and if you have Netflix you can stream movies to your TV soon.
