When Tippett called Borges "the best in the business" during his HoF speech, I nearly puked. That was such an odd off-the-wall statement. Most of those who know who Borges is would disagree, and I can't see Bob Kraft agreeing with him either.

As far as Tip was concerned he was. Ron didn't really cover Tip in his career so there was no animosity there. And then he took up Tip's banner to right a wrong committed by his predecessor.

Strip away the irrational hatred for all things BB, and the lazy arrogance born of being the top dog at the Globe, and Ron was always at heart a pretty good football reporter. As they go, anyway.

I hated Borges as much as anyone and see him as the godfather of all the BB haters in the media but, in my book, he gets a pass for life for what he did for AT. As much as a miscarriage of justice as it would have been, AT very well may not have gotten into the HOF without him. Now if we can just get Borges on Jim Rice's side...

THAT is being way way TOO generous ...far far so..Borges wa sone of those who hung out with the likes of Tatum and Atkinson in Oakland....thugs..when I think of Borges THAT is who I think of..bbecause he does ONE decent thing in the last years..a pass for life?? He''s a scumbag THAT simple..and it is totally appalling that ONLY HE has a New Enfgand HOF vote..THAT is truly. rubbish...he's an OK writer..but take away some of thug past and his last putrid years here..and maybe.. Borges to me is someone who should cover boxing only. (he fits in with the Kings and other losers who have run the sport into teh ground..).where obviously he's been hit one too many times..

He could write an occasionally decent feature story, but those were WAY overshadowed by his hatred of BB and chippy attitude regarding the Patriots in general. Remember his Bledsoe campaign ("Patriots traded the wrong QB") and criticism of the Seymour draft pick, etc. He just became so dysfunctional here that there were no saving graces about the guy.

Borges was at least funny (unintentionally) and never intentionally tried to distract and assault the team right before a Super Bowl.

I won't rest until Fatsotomase is writing for the Ladies Home Journal.:banned:
