Re: Favres Press conf.

Would anyone (excpet Mangini) be shocked if this guy worked with the Jets for a week or two then re-retired, saying he'd had another change of heart? That would be sweet!!

Hopefully he waits until Pennington signs elsewhere.
Belichick will call his good buddies and take a 4th for Cassell ... :p

Re: Favres Press conf.

I would like to see them crushed in week one vs. a Chad. P Dolphins team.

Now I wish Jason Taylor was still in the division.

He doesnt look happy...must have just realized that New England is in the AFC east.

Thought the exact same thing. Poor Brett Favray was not exactly brimming with enthusiasm and excitement.
Maybe because NY was the last place he wanted to land?
Want a good laugh?? Listen to WFAN.
Delusional doesn't begin to describe..... :D

He is playing for the love of the game (you have to, to play for the Jets). The NY media is going to make it hell for him the first bad game he has.

He's not playing for money or love. Favre needs attention, plain and simple. Being out of the spotlight might actually cause him physical pain at this point.

He absolutely doesn't want to play for the Jets. It's in his face, his body language, and the fact that he said he didn't want to play for the Jets. :D But, he's still The Story, and that's all that matters to him.

In his press conference he made numerous references to people who are "Brett Favre fans" and people who aren't "Brett Favre fans." His ego knows no bounds. Could you see Tom Brady talking about "Tom Brady fans"? I think the guy wants to play, but he's in for a rude awakening when he tries to impose the will of his loosey goosey style of play on the Jets. New York ain't Green Bay. And, wow -- it sure looks like Favre and Tubby Ratfink are trying to cheer up a funeral. I can't imagine how livid Pennington must be over all this.

I KNOW! I've been the first to stick up for favre over the years, but maybe I was wrong all along. "maybe they werent die hard brett favre fans" wtf is that? Did all of his legacy die in Green bay? Its like he's saying that people who remain green bay fans are the tradors.

Hope he can still scramble at his advanced age. He's a marked man.

Wait until he finds out that the NY media isn't the Biloxi Sun Herald or the Green Bay whatever and they start ripping him instead of genuflecting.......

The funny thing is that Mike Golic actually argued the opposite. He said Favre would love it from a media standpoint because the Jets would shield him from the media. I think it is bollocks.

The New York media is brutal. Say the Jets start out 1-3 (which is possible if Arizona finally makes that step up that people have been waiting for for years), the New York press will skewer the guy. In Green Bay, no matter how bad he played, the press made excuses for him. That won't happen in NY.

Favre actually retiring would be the best thing for Jesters.

Now that they cut penny they would be forced to go with Clemens who I think is their real long term solution. (At least from the available solution set; assumes they don't use a top 10 #1 pick in future to get a better QB). Penny is just treading water and Favre is too unpredictable to get them better than a bubble wild-card team losing in first round. and he only does that for 2 years tops - if everything goes 'perfect'. But I guess that is long enough to save Ratzini's azz.

Brett looked like the guy who just found out that the girl he was madly in love with dumped him for another guy. It was pretty pathetic. He looked kind of dazed to me. Also - could he be more full of himself? I can't see how his gun-slinger style, undiscilpined play and me-first mentality is goin to mesh with Mr. Disciplin himself, Eric Mangini. Honestly - Mangini's head will probably explode after the third shovel pass he sees.

Plus...did you see that look of glee on Woody Johnson's face? That "I can charge whatever I want for PSL'S and the fans will no longer complain" look? LOL!

Guys, seriously...cut him SOME slack...the past couple of days would have been a bit tough on him...he WOULD look tired and confused. I think the current situation, him leaving his team of 16 years or whatever, where he became a household name, and coming to the Jets, after realizing he wanted to play football again (which he has every right to do, when Mario came back to play for the Pens I lost 0 respect for him, one of the greatest players in the game), he is allowed to do that.

Then he gets whisked away back home then to NY, to quickly meet his new team and offense, which he will have to learn and learn quick, along with making arrangements for living and moving his family, if necessary.

Seriously, he SHOULD look run down. He spoke honestly of the soap opera and blame in GB, and then stated he was moving on. He sounded like his heart will always be in GB, you can't blame him for that (but he better get his head into and around that Jet playbook).

I for one like Brett Favre and am excited about watching him play against the Patriots twice this year. I certainly don't see the Jets beating the Pats this year, but it will be fun to watch Favre out there playing, esp. if he develops any sort of chemistry with these guys, then he is having fun and fun to watch.

He came out of retirement, he is allowed, now let's see what he's still got.

It'll be fun I think....

I refuse to cut that selfish dink any slack. He's run down from a soap opera? - that lasted a month? - that he created? He's the spoiled brat that didn't get his way and now he's confused as to why. What a meatball!

I'm just wondering if it's not the Jets fans that are being played here. Woody Johnson has to market and sell PSL's - the pricing has not been released yet - you think this wasn't just a marketing ploy? The FA splash they made - and the large sums of money spent - seems so un-mangini like, you know?

Mario Lemiuex (sp?) didn't toy with the press for 5 years about if this was his "last year" or not. And the year Mario retired the first time the Pens didn't draft two players while grooming a third to base thier whole team around.

It's apples and oranges. A hockey player or baseball player coming out of retirement is pretty easy. Brett Favre coming out of retirement to QB his old team who have already started getting Aaron Rodgers ready is alot different.

Didn't Lemieux also retire to get treated for his lymphoma? That's a little different than the yearly "Will I or won't I?" ritual.

Amen!!!
Booohoooo Green Bay didn't get the coach Brett wanted or the receiver Brett wanted and he had to go on Fox News to let us all know how badly he was treated, wahwahwah! Brett Favre is the biggest drama queen and if he is confused by what happened in the last month he is stupid as well. People can like him all they want but for those of us who saw through the "aw shucks I just want to play football and have fun!" act, we will continue to bash him :)
