Cassel ended up taking the first 12 snaps, and ended up going 1-for-4 with 11 yards and one interception. Matt Gutierrez has replaced him with just over 12 minutes to go in the second quarter.

I appreciate the updates and know you're respected on this site. That said, is it necessary to start a new thread for every little tidbit? It is not my intention to offend anyone, but wouldn't a link to your site be sufficient?

Just sayin'

TBone, I'm not starting a new thread with every blog entry--the blog generates an RSS feed that send a link to the messageboard. (Been blogging like this for the last 2 or 3 years.) Not to be snippy, but if you have an issue, simply ignore the message.

I hope there the final numbers of his pats career.

He certainly didn't help his cause. Keep them coming Chris.

"I hope there the final numbers of his pats career." My thoughts exactly, please for the love of God pull the plug on this guy already and move on, he is effin brutal.

His last gasp IMO was the Miami game in Miami last year; thrown in for mop up duty and he proceeded to throw just a horrific pic and BB had to put Brady back in..............

agreed, Cassel needs to go before he brings CJ with him

Cassells only hope is O'Connell gets one of those phantom injuries this pre-season.

Yes CJ Jones was awfull too

First......

Preseason.....

Game.

Cassel can't relax and just play. We'll probably never know how good he could have been...

I can probably throw the ball better and with more accuracy with my **** than Casell can with his arm

- I have been saying it for awhile now -
A worthless clipboard holder on the sidelines,Maybe make him the Gatorade boy and hand the clipboard over to the next NE Backup - Kevin O' Connell

The Ravens #1 pick at QB looked just as bad. Relax. That being said, Cassie is not on the 53. Reasons...Contract year, Gutz & O'Connell.

Can the Pats afford Pennington? :D

I am reminded yet again of my one time meeting a few of the guys, at a charity flag football game in Acton a year ago. Cassell seemed a natural as a benchwarmer even there. Spann, by way of contrast, impressed me very favorably with his football character. Gostowski and Eric Alexander were inbetween, and given how sparse the data was I came away with no notable opinion changes on them.

(I made a point of speaking briefly to each of them, for my nephew's sake as much as my own. When I complemented Spann on playing his heart out even in a meaningless game, he gave me a quiet "Of course", delivered in a way that spoke volumes. Cassell was utterly plastic, and that was after having spent more time during the game on the bench than Fred Smerlas or Steve DeOssie. Cassell's core competency is sitting on the bench and looking like a QB.)

Sky is Falling Post

As long as TB stays healthy or doesn't decide to enter the priesthood, things are looking good for 2008. If he goes down, we're screwed--we might finish around .500 (seriously). QBs frequently get hurt and TB has been leading a charmed life so far. He may be nursing an injury of some sort now.

O'Connell might turn out to be THE KEY draft pick this year. In the end, he looks more promising than the other two backups. How ironic if we have to bring in Cap-hit Pennington. Cassell is probably making other plans already.

So far so good on the "younger and faster defense." If Hobbs and Sanders stay healthy the D should be very good. Jury's still way out on Merriweather IMO. I didnt like what I saw of him last night.

Cassel is not getting better. He has not improved. If your not improving, then your regressing. Roster spots are a premium and he has to earn one. I don't see him sticking this year.

Jackson didn't look good, but i would have liked to see him with another QB.

On the interception, for instance. I know they have options on these routes.

Was CJ supposed to turn into coverage for no gain, or was Cassell supposed to read the coverage and throw to a wide open CJ with no apparent defender between him and plenty of YAC.

This is a serious question, they showed the replay many times.

Cassell looks the least confident of the young QBs too. That stuff matters.

He looks like Anthony Perkins in Psycho.
