Least favorite starting Patriot?

My post makes me feel bad so I'm wiping it out.

I don't understand the intent behind this negativity myself. There always will be starting players who struggle at one time or another on any team. Why focus on picking someone you can harp on?

I don't get it.

Sounds like a thread that some Pats fan would start on a Colts board to piss some people off and start an argument.

Anyway, Whatever - Flame on about our guys if you feel so inclined, I don't.

If anyone wants to step up and outplay Chris Hanson for a roster spot, I won't shed too many tears.

It may be that he never fully recovered from Jack Del Rio's motivational exercise of inviting players to take a whack at a tree stump in the locker room with an ax - in which he proceeded to take a chunk out of his leg and miss the next 11 months... but I keep thinking we can improve that position significantly (and yet he's still our punter).

Reche Caldwell. He's a choke....nevermind.

I used to have a problem with Kevin Faulk for key fumbles at the perfectly wrong time. I felt he was a choker. He has corrected that and proven me wrong.

Now...great team, only one turd...Kaczur.

I am surprised no one said Marcus Pollard although he is not really a starter - yet.

Remember this little ditty by Pollard? - http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=940CE5DC1639F934A25752C0A9629C8B63
For those who don't want to take the trouble, the quote is:
Pollard said that if the Colts kept playing as well as they had in their first two playoff games -- they haven't had to punt in either of them -- then ''they might as well just hand us the rings.''
Patriots safety Rodney Harrison was irked by the remark this week
Think Rodney will have a little something for Marcus during practice, delivered with a smile?

Nick Kaczur doesn't deserve to be a starter on an NFL team (let alone a 16-0 team), and to top it off he doesn't have an exceptionally likeable personality. And check out my old posts, I've been saying that since he made his first career start.

I agree...a negative post...least favorite..Gee...always looking at the DOWN side of things...

Who was your least favorite starting patriot in the 07-08 season?
My least favorite pat is Benjamin Watson. He was our starting TE last year and though he has the perfect body to be a great tight end he continues to SUCK! Plus with injury issues and his unreliable hands it makes him 10 times worse. Who is ur least fav?

Hobbs...by far

You guys are defending Hobbs by saying that he NEEDS safety help over the top everytime he gets burned. Good cornerbacks don't always require help over the top. Good cornerbacks can make up in coverage if the safety has another assignment on the play. If a CB needs safety help over the top on every single play in a game, he simply isn't that good.

And I'm not saying that Hobbs is our on CB that constantly got burned last year. In fact, I think Samuel gave up more touchdowns than Hobbs did. But what I am saying is that, through the years that Hobbs has been here, I have never seen another CB on our team that got toasted as much as he did.

I don't think you are watching him very fairly. First off he wasn't ten yards from Buress on the last play. Also usually when a guy lets up a TD it is because the guy got past him, I would be concerned if he was letting up TDs and he was a yard away from the guy.

You know what that means? That means I have a real future in the NFL. I could let a guy beat me by 20 yards, does that mean I should be paid twice as much as Ellis?

Ellis is in the bottom 5 of NFL starting corners. I can't think of a CB that is worse than he is, but I am sure that there might be one or two out there.

Maybe You should pay a bit more attention to the fact that football is a team game. Teams were throwing away from Samuel last season and throwing toward Hobbs. What do you expect of Hobbs? What cornerback doesn't get beaten sometimes if teams are running formations and schemes to throw his way? And I guess all those times he got beat really hurt the Pats, considering all the games the games they lost last season.

And if you are going to rag on Hobbs, which seems to be a cult around here, for the last G-men touchdown, then at least realize that Hobbs said he was playing Burress so he did not beat Hobbs over the middle. Where was the safety help on that play? Oh, yeah, that's right, they were blitzing because Dean Pees called a middle blitz. I guess that was Hobbs' fault, too.

As for having the ball thrown right to him, at least he caught those interceptions. More than you can say for Asante, who dropped a duck tossed up by Eli that would have won the game.

That is a bunch of BS! If you watched even 1 Giants game during the season then you had to see that corner fade, it was the only play that Eli looked any good on. It gave him the ability not to give up an INT. If Ellis says that he was told to cover the middle then he is either lying or Dean Pees should be fired. Since Pees is still with the team my guess is tha the ultimate warior, Ellis Hobbs, must have heard the wrong call.

Ellis can't take all the blame for that loss, he just screwed up last. He still sucks though.

No one said he needs Saftey help on every play.

What we said was do you know what the coverage was?

If he was in single and he got burnt...than it is his fault.

If he is supposed to have safety help and reacts as if the help is going to be there and it never comes it may look as though he got burnt when in fact it was the safties fault.

So unless you know the play that was called than you can't say that what stood out to you was truly Hobbs fault.

Those of us who defend Hobbs like to look at his whole body of work. He had a good rookie year and he improved on his rookie year with a really good sophmore year in which he played all season with a cast. Than in his third season he played with multiple injuries and was still an extremely effective CB. Its not like teams were picking on him like they were Starks. Its not like he was getting tourched up and down the field, though some of you want to say he was it just wasn't happening.

Nick Kaczur

As a rookie, he came in and did an OK job at LT for Light in 2005, but hasn't improved since. Maybe that's to be expected of a guy who was 24 or 25 years old when he was drafted. Doesn't have quick enough feet, even for a RT. I thought O'Callaghan did a creditable job subbing for him in December of last year, and looked better against the Giants in week 17 than Kaczur did in the SB.

so You are telling me that you can stay with the best Wide recievers and be with in a yard because that is what I said.....You said ten yards in the original post and doubled to 20 yards before you said you could do it too.

You show me one play where Hobbs was ten yards away from where he was supposed to be nevermind 20 yards away. But hey if you want to make things up to dog the guy than it will be hard to argue with you.

He is better than Aron Ross who started for the Giants
Bryant who started for the Lions and will be lower on our depth chart if hobbs id healthy
He is better than Marlin Jackson one of the Colts starters.
He may be better than anyone on the bears or bengals but certainly better than the guys after Tillman(bears) and Hall (bengals)

Those are just a few names...I cant think of everyone who started in the NFL that he is better than. But IMO the reality is probably more like there are just a handful of teams he wouldn't start on.

Samuel, he's no longer on the team so he's dead to me. And Hobbs would have never been in that position with 35 seconds left if Samuel had made a play. And for those of you who say Hobbs is one of the worst CBs in the league, get a clue. I'd like to know what game you watch each Sunday.

I have to say James Sanders:
He may be playing out of position but good safties are either big hitters(Rodney)or interception guys(old Fred Marion). Alot of people defend him, but I see him missing tackles, taking bad angles, and not putting himself in position to blow up the ball and ball carrier as a good safety is supposed to(in my opinion). He is a good depth guy, but he isnt a "big upside" type that we like to see in our younger players making mistakes. There were alot of plays made by our D while he has been here, I dont remember him making or being a big part of one.

As bad as you say this type of thread is, the attitude you have is just as bad on the other side. To much of anything is never good, that includes negativity and homerism!

Some people dont like to talk about sunshine and rainbows all the time. True sports fans are HONEST about the performance of players on thier team.If a guy is not playing well, he should be called out.

I've never been a big fan of Stallworth's game.
That's probably why he didn't keep his starting job, and is now gone.
Plus it's much nicer to pick on a one-year hired gun than our vets.

Boo! Hiss! for Donte:mad:

Toss up between Gene Mruczkowski & Billy Yates ...

Every freaking week are they on the roster, off the roster, or practice squad ... like it matters .

I know that this will unpopular with the posters here but I can't stand Roidney Harrison and his constant "nobody believes in us" bullcrap.
