from NFL network and the bears website:

The Chicago Bears signed free agent running back Kevin Jones on a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Jones, who underwent a physical in Chicago on Monday, had worked out for prospective teams earlier this month just five months after he had major knee surgery. Dr. D.S. Ping, who has been helping Jones rehabilitate his right knee, said the Miami Dolphins , Green Bay Packers , Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions attended the workout.

The Lions cut their former first-round pick in March with one year left on his contract after he injured the knee late last season, adding to the injury woes that have stunted his success in the league. Jones rushed for 581 yards and eight touchdowns in 2007 but missed the last game of the season after suffering a serious knee injury against the Chiefs in Week 16.

Jones also missed the first two games last season recovering from a foot injury that also sidelined him for the final three games of 2006.
Jones was the 30th overall pick by the Lions in the 2004 NFL Draft.

He ran for 3,000-plus yards in four seasons in Detroit, including 1,133 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie in 2004.

Good for him. I hope he returns to full health and rushes for over 1,000 yards this year. That will be hard to do though considering he isn't fully healthy and will almost certainly be playing behind Matt Forte.

That makes sense as the Bears need a RB. How quick their Dynamic duo dismantled. I think it is nice to see Jones land somewhere where he will get a chance because you never want to see a guy fall off the face because of an injury.

Already snatched him off waivers in my fantasy team and dropped troy williamson.

Crap. I have the 3rd "rookie" pick in my draft. McFadden is going #1. the Carolina RB #2. I was thinking of Forte over Mendenhall but this throws a monkey wrench into things now.

I wouldn't mind if we added him, but that would have probably would have spelled the end of Kevin Faulk which, although I wouldn't have been shocked if it happened, I wouldn't have been too happy about. I couldn't see him replacing either Morris or Maroney. Maroney is a lock to make the roster and Jones isn't the short yardage pound in between the tackles guy the Pats want to compliment Maroney.

Jones is better off in Chicago where he can get a starting job and hopefully for him rebound his career.

good for da bears, but who's gonna throw the football? :D

Are you all in fantasy land? Five months off major knee surgery? Maybe for an offensive lineman, not a running back.

I wish him all the best..5 months off surgery...may take him longer..we shall see.

I guess that means Adam Seward isn't coming for a visit.

sweet... Kevin Jones... the "Adam Archaletta" of running backs.

If they're smart, they'll leave him on the bench until it starts getting cold out. They need to work him into their gameplan slowly, so he doesn't aggrivate that injury.
