Patriots @ Steelers...this is one of my favorite games.
Yes, I'm going through football withdrawal. :(
Every year I do a little inventory of my football library. I stumbled onto an old VHS tape with no label, put in the VCR and lo and behold there was the Patriots @ Steelers game.

I know that many of those players are no longer with us, but if I could have one of them back, it would Be Corey Dillon. He brought an attitude and a toughness to our offense that we haven't seen since he left. The Passing game is great, but I want to see this team start smacking these defenses around again. No wonder BB/Pioli are looking for another Dillon type of back. The guy was special, IMO.

Anyway, I just had to share. Man I hate this time of year.
I miss FOOTBALL!! :(

it's ok to have withdrawls but did you really say it was on a VHS

Yep. I taped it about 4 years ago. I still use a VCR to tape some of the games. Last year I signed up for Comcast, and now I record most of the games using DVR. But every now and then, I'll put a game that I want to keep on VHS because you only have so much space on the DVR before it fills up. For all the money I spend you would think that there would be a way to archive these recordings and clear space on the DVR without erasing a recording. Thank you Comcast.
Sadly, after the Super Bowl loss, I was so depressed that I erased everything out of my DVR library that I taped during 2007. That was a huge mistake. I am seriously missing Football right now, and there was no NFL Europe to fill the void this year.
The only game I have left from last year is the Jets game from week one. That game pisses me off, but the look on Ratgini's face when Ellis Hobbs returned that punt for a Touchdown was priceless. :D

Hey, I love VHS tapes...it's a great medium. Too bad about the erasure, though...I have done things like that before. Probably the most bitter was '86 Red Sox loss in game six...I was just a kid, but I taped it, and immediately erased it afterward--while bawling probably...can't say I regret it, but the older me would have liked to keep it as memorabilia.

I was watching the 1985 play-off game between the Pats and the Raiders that I had transferred to DVD.
Watching it just makes me said at how good Tony Eason could have been it had had any real passion for the game at all. Watching the games from the 80's or 90's are a blast especially the commercials.

I still have Tuna Bowl 1 on tape. Great game, full of emotion. Jet's seemingly had the game won with an unbelievable comback in the 4th quarter only to have the game winning extra point blocked with no time left. Patriots go on to win in OT. IMO, one of the best regular season games played.

I have full season DVD's of 2001, 2003 & 2004 seasons.

I also have old VCR tapes of the entire '85 playoff run as well and some good stuff along the way as well from 96.

I also had DVR recordings of most of 2007 season and was ready to get the entire 2007 season and could not bring my self to watch 'em - I erased it all. I had games, specials, pre game post game all of it on two Comcast HD DVR's and one DTV HD DVR. I erased it all. I did watch the game on time the following week and then erased it - man we could have won that thing 38-17.

Funny thing, in the football boredom of this weeks - for the first time, I have actually gone back and read some post Pats - Giants Superbowl articles and reactions for the first time.

Since we had gone to the game, I never could bring myself to read or watch any of the postgame stuff, was too painful. I guess I am healing now as I can now read without throwing up.

I've got some from the 70's. I've told those around me that if i get hit by a truck, treasure my VHS collection.

Does anyone know where you can purchase HD DVD's of games? I'm sure someone must be selling them somewhere...

I still have all three Super Bowls on VHS. :D
Those tapes are special. I don't think that I'll ever tape over or erase them. They were taped live from beginning to end with commercials and commentary. My friend offered to put them on DVD, but I'm still thinking about it. I started taping the last Super Bowl on my DVR, but that one was erased immediately after the game. There are two games that I don't think that I'll be able to bring myself to watch ever again. That catastrophic Super Bowl loss that we all witnessed and that gut wrenching loss against Indy in the AFC Championship game back in 06.

yeah, i hear ya there DR. I did the exact same thing and watched America's Game,, i think it was the 2004 year. Wow, I agree, Dillon was a beast that year, played well and pounded defenses. I don't know if Maroney can do that but would like to see it.

Branch and Brady man were on the same wave length. What a treat we got to see that combination. It will be nice when September rolls around...

Sounds like a nice collection you have there. It is time to start adding to it though.
