Pete Prisco "Chill New England, there's no denying Brady is the best"

see guys? these analysts arn't stupid....

they're just really, really slow (about 3-4 years worth of slow)

I agree with this being the "wrong" year to decide that Brady is number one just because I think looking beyond the stats it's been that way for a while. I am actually more impressed with what Brady got out of his 2006 teammates than his 2007 teammates and think that he should have received the MVP for what he did with that group of JAG's.

Palmer being ranked #8 is a joke but it's a combination of having put up gaudy stats in the past with a number one pick pedigree. I'll take Romo over him any day of the week.

I also thought Jason Witten being left off the list all together and being ranked behind Gonzalez and Winslow was ridiculous. He's a better receiver and blocker than those two and I think he's narrowed the gap between himself and Antonio Gates as a receiver, and I think he's a much better blocker than Gates as well.

Am I on acid, or is Mario Williams rated 6th on his list.

Better late than never!

Nope, too late. Will never go to CBSsportsline unless there is a major buyout and house cleaning.

Re: Pete Prisco "Chill New England,There's no denying Brady is the best"

Just goes to show you how having legitimate wide receivers to throw too can really change things, RIGHT PEYTON ????

You do know that neither the Pats nor the Colts won the Super Bowl last year, right?

And the Pats won all theirs with a "substandard" receiving core.

You know his list is messed up when he writes:

41. Vince Wilfork, DT, New England Patriots: He was the best front-seven player on the Pats defense last season.

30. Richard Seymour, DE, New England Patriots: He played hurt last season and wasn't the same player as in years past.

Wilfork is the one player we cannot afford to lose on defense now. Seymour might come back with a good year this season but right now Vince is the man.

Asante Samuel should never be ranked ahead of Wilfork. It doesn't matter what list you're making.

At 10, he has Kevin Williams. Poll every GM and ask if they had the choice between these two guys right now who they would take. Wilfork is the best D-Lineman right now in the NFL.

Andy, I respect your opinion, but I am going to have to completely disagree with you on this one.

Tom Brady is not, nor has he ever been, better than Peyton Manning because of the rings. Tom Brady has been better than Peyton Manning because he has been a better leader, better manager, better in the playoffs, is (and always has been) capable of making every throw with great effectiveness and, on top of all that, through comparable points in their careers as starters, Brady's statistics were/are just as good as Manning's* (<- ).

Judging their careers based on the four games Brady won to get those rings is a ridiculous endeavor, in my humble opinion. To throw out how they played in hundreds of other games so you can only focus on five games is foolhardy and does not begin to give any relevance to the fact that games are won by the team as a whole, not an individual.

>>The rings arent the SB games themselves. They are all the things you said LEADING TO rings.

But you said Brady played better in '01 than he did in '07. Brady didn't cost them the Super Bowl last season so I don't see how you can make that argument. For 50 minutes, Brady withstood an unrelenting pass rush to drive his team down the field for the go ahead touchdown. Through all of the other crap, the offense put the team in position to win with two and a half minutes left in the game (thanks in large part to a great game by the defense up until that point). If Rodney is one second earlier the Patriots are champs and Brady has a(nother) ring in '07; the loss is no detriment to his legacy.

Pete Prisco = idiot.

And Peyton still only managed to get one ring....

That's like making fun of someone because they only slept with Eva Longoria once.

Peyton is a great quarterback.

He's just not as great as Brady.

I think it was funny when I read the article that he mentioned that Peyton Manning didn't have Marvin Harrison last year at least 2-3 times. Wanted to make sure we knew that. Hell, he never says anything about Brady not having a sure-fire top flight receiver his WHOLE career. It is really amazing how much the national media coddles Peyton Manning. Last year they started doing the same with Brady, but at least he has earned it. Not that Peyton hasn't earned it either, he is a damn fine quarterback.. I guess it is the amount of sucking up the media does that irks me about him, especially before last year. Brady never "measured" up against him, yet we had three Super Bowl championships to Peyton's one. Sorry for bringing an old argument back to life again.

You totally missed the guy's point. If you are comparing him to someone like us who will NEVER sleep with whoever, then yeah, laugh away. But if you compare someone to a guy who has slept with her multiple times, the the comaprison is valid.

Prisco is an idiot. Do any of us hae any doubts of that?

Well, I thought it was obvious that I was just making a point. That point is that of every attribute about Brady, the fact that he wins championships outweighs all others.
A better way to put it would be that Brady 'had a better year' in 01 than 07. That is indisputable to me because how well you play in a loss has a hell of lot less value than how well you play in a win.
To put it another way, the value of a player is how much they contribute to wins, not how much they do in losses.
